Job Description

Union Environment, position starts at $20.84 with increases every July 1st

This position includes Stacker, Sheet loader, Bander, Unloader, Middleman, Samples, Oxides, Hand Specials.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures  

Follow Westlake attendance policy and production requirements 

Stacker: Perform the task but not limited to removing tile from the production line and inspecting and assuring good quality tile is properly stacked onto a pallet for packaging prior to shipping. 

Bander: Assure stacked production is banded correctly and prepare stacking tables for the stackers. 

Unloader: Perform duties as a stacker while manually removing molds from racks onto a process belt for final preparation to be packaged for shipping. 

Middleman: Back up lead and assure production line is running at the best efficiency and be able to drive a forklift to assist with breaks and changeovers. 

Samples: Responsible for selecting, labeling and packaging tiles/material to be sent to customers. Must be familiar with color and color blends to be able to select the correct samples.  

Oxides: Make small bags of oxides for samples 

Hand Specials: Produce hand-made specials in a consistent manner with regard and attention to quality and quantity 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES  

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, and company manuals and procedures. 

Demonstrate manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude 

Good communication skills and ability to read, speak, write English (bilingual Spanish helpful) 

Ability to observe, identify, deduce and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions 

Quick learner and ability to work under minimal supervision 

Math skills and computer skills 

Ability to attention to details 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

High School Diploma highly desirable but not required 

1 year of general labor experience in a similar setting, preferably in a manufacturing environment but willing to train 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The employee should possess the ability to: 

Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that uncomfortable 

Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out  

Prolong standing or in stationary position  

Complete repetitive movements 

Bend and/or twist  

Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds 

Ability to move or traverse about the facilities 

Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions 

Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
