The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Research Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

Designing and conducting cast and oriented film processes with new materials, and specialty polymers, in the laboratory and pilot lines
Leading teams in the development of film processes for scale-up
Leading teams on new process development
Defining and developing new product and/or new application opportunities with 3M Division partners
Leading efforts to drive growth through new technology development and advancement

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering (completed and verified) from an accredited institution
Ten (10) years of combined professional experience in polymer extrusion, cast and oriented film development and/or product commercialization
Experience in oriented polyolefin, multilayer film coextrusion in a private, public, government or military environment 
Fundamental knowledge in polymer structure-property relationships

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

Ph.D in Polymer Science and Engineering from an accredited institution
Strong communication skills, teamwork and problem-solving abilities
Experience in transferring technology from laboratory to pilot/manufacturing plant settings
Ability to work well both in multi-disciplinary teams and independently
