Establishes a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients and helps patients with daily living. Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment in the psychiatric unit. Takes vital signs, weighs patients and collects routine specimens. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of related experience. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Mental Health Technician - Adult 3- FHWV - 0.9 FT E/N/W (4:00pm-12:30am)

Under the administrative and clinical supervision of the Head Nurse, the Mental Health Technician maintains a safe and therapeutic environment; provides direct psychosocial and physical nursing care to patients, in both individual and group settings; and implements the program schedule according to the patients individual treatment plan.

One (1) year experience in the human service field is preferred; internships/field placement experience acceptable. Ability to develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and family members/significant others; demonstrates verbal and written communication skills and the ability to express ideas in a clear, concise and legible form; ability to interface with all disciplines; ability to organize and prioritize multifaceted workload; exercises tact, diplomacy and good judgment at all times.

BLS required, must be completed prior to end of orientation period.
