Job Description

Seeking C++ Application Developer to join the Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) Technology Team, creating technology solutions at the heart of our Railroad Operations. The CAD product is the software that enables UP Dispatchers to move trains safely and efficiently across our rail network by controlling the switches and signals in the field.

Accountabilities

Collaborate with Operations Department, Business Analysts, Engineers, and QA to identify, understand, and implement requirements
Develop enhancements and bug fixes in C++ code base using Agile methodologies
Create quality, unit tested code based upon requirements provided
Comply with coding standards, testing standards, and documentation standards
Effectively manage time and deliver quality products on schedule.
Aid team members in problem solving to resolve application errors.
Provide 24x7 production systems support on a rotating basis

Qualifications

Required

A Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience in this field
Experience & proficiency in C++, with fair knowledge of the language specification
Experience & proficiency in UNIX/Linux command line (minimum 1 year)
Knowledge of Object-Oriented development techniques
Knowledge and understanding of code versioning tools (such as Git)

Preferred

Experience with Database and SQL
Experience with implementation of automated testing platforms and unit tests
Experience of 3 or more years working in IT or Tech
Experience developing and maintaining a large, distributed application
Knowledge of the latest (C++14, C++17, C++20) C++ standards
Knowledge and basic understanding of RDBMS databases such as SQL server and Oracle
Knowledge of modern software design and development methodologies
Knowledge of modern software configuration management (SCM)

Physical Requirements

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee will spend extended hours in front of a computer screen
