Job Description

Position Purpose:  

Develop and grow a client base and risk management programs for those clients with commodity price risk.

 Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities: 

Identifies, prospects and contacts potential clients to educate them on commodities trading and risk management.
Analyzes individual client operations to determine market exposure, price sensitivity and financial risks.   
Performs market analysis, including reporting on commodities production, weather, supply and demand variables, and provides risk mitigation and margin enhancement strategies for clients.
Assesses risk management processes and functions, monitors trading risks and identifies underlying risk exposure.
Develops and recommends fact-based risk mitigation and margin enhancement strategies for clients.
Executes physical contracts, futures, options and Swaps that support commodity risk management strategies.
Maintains and analyzes risk reports pertaining to trading activities.
Participates in analysis and reconciliation of positions and P&L reported by trading team.
Ensures the market and credit risk on non-traditional transactions is captured appropriately.
Monitors trading activities and exposures to ensure they are within approved policies and limits.
Prepares and runs econometric models for fundamental commodity forecasting and analysis.
Maintains prompt and regular attendance.

Job Requirements:

3-5+ years’ risk management experience in commodity markets or strong knowledge of commodity trading business, either as a trader or in financial support activity
Existing client base with established book of business
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Finance, Economics or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Series 3 license.
Self-starter and entrepreneurial.
Ability to exercise autonomous judgment in assessing opportunities and risk.
Excellent customer service and verbal and written communication skills.
Must demonstrate a quantitative/analytical approach to commodity markets and the use of multiple risk management alternatives.
Works well in a team environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Proficient computer skills—especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Original and independent thinking is a must to identify and respond to customer needs through the structuring of effective solutions.
Thorough and highly accurate job execution skills.
Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer
Ability to travel up to 50%

Minimal physical requirements other than occasional light lifting of boxed materials
Dynamic, time-sensitive, trading room environment
Travel as needed
