Pre-Sales Solutions Engineer

Job Description

Effective Presales Solution Engineers are constantly searching for ways to improve their demonstration capabilities, presentation skills, technical competency, facilitation of requirements management and working with the sales teams to align customer needs with NCR solutions. 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Manage and lead technical aspects of a sales initiative
Work with sales to uncover and document technical customer solution requirements
Understand and communicate solution technical dependencies
Identify gaps in the customer environment that need to be resolved
Identify gaps in NCR solutions to meet customer requirements and communicate to Product Mgmt
Recommend appropriate implementation options – on premise, SaaS, NCR as a Service
Organize and deliver complete NCR software demonstrations to meet customer needs
Assist sales teams writing proposals and delivering presentations
Sell and position solutions at all levels of the customer organization – know your audience
Work with customers and NCR services teams to clarify and document project scope
Ability to travel 25-35% of time (once travel is Covid-19 safe) to customer sites across the USA
Ability to work effectively from a home office when not travelling to customer sites

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Discipline or equivalent work experience 
Ability to demonstrate technical credibility and a consultative approach with customers
Understand what represents best practices from a technology perspective
Must have a positive attitude, be flexible and have good communication skills
Experience in managing all aspects of a technical sale including discovery, demos, follow-up, competitive positioning, RFP/RFI engagement, etc.
Experience with software development is a positive, but this is not a software engineering role

Preferred Qualifications:

Expertise in financial services – cloud, client/server, APIs, microservices, contact centers.
3-5 years of related experience focused on the self-service financial industry
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering or a related field is preferred
Working experience using C#, Web Services, REST, SOAP
Knowledge of Docker and container management systems like Kubernetes
Knowledge of major cloud provider platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
Ability to work under tight timelines in a demanding environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong presentation skills
Ability to take a leadership role in challenging standard approaches
