Technical Asset Manager - Safari Energy (a PPL Company)

Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Maintenance (O&M), the Technical Asset Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of solar projects. The manager is responsible for monitoring system performance and performing corrective actions as required, utilizing both internal and external resources, and maintaining a database with key information of operating projects.

Primary Responsibilities

System Monitoring – 30%

Monitor and analyze system production using internet-based data acquisition system to identify issues and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
Provide system monitoring support for field technicians.
Utilize internal production reporting platform for tracking system production across fleet.
Recommend product improvements based on field performance and Operations team feedback.
Provide feedback to engineering team for production estimates based on field observations.

System Maintenance – 50%

Manage internal and external field service resources to maximize service efficiency and minimize site downtime.
Work within contractual and budgetary requirements to maximize portfolio production.
Supervise subcontracted annual O&M services including preventative maintenance, panel washing, and ground maintenance.
Enforce all company, quality and safety standards during all inspections and maintenance activities.
Dispatch subcontracted O&M services for ad hoc maintenance issues and reactive work.
Maintain site warranty databases and ensure compliance with warranty requirements.
Keep databases of site photos, reports, and equipment information via Work Orders.
Create vendor Purchase Orders.
Manage integration of new assets into fleet and streamline asset handover process.

Coordination/Communication – 10%

Establish, maintain, and improve relationships with client operations managers.
Coordinate and schedule utility maintenance shutdowns when needed.
Provide updates on system improvements/repairs and site visits to Technical Asset Management Team.
Provide technical information on systems/equipment as needed.

Troubleshooting/Supplier Communication – 10%

Work with equipment/inverter/DAS technical support to troubleshoot and resolve any system issues.
Manage RMA processes and replacement of faulty components including delivery and returns of equipment.
