The Senior Systems Engineer (Supply Chain) position solutions, develops, maintains, and supports AutoZone's Supply Chain systems, services, and applications, within the Leveraging Inventory team. The ideal technologist will be challenged to provide technical leadership for both new and existing Supply Chain (Leveraging Inventory) innovation / optimization initiatives. Expected responsibilities include teaching and representing domain expertise from a technical perspective, providing technical guidance and mentoring for junior engineers and other IT specialists, supporting both internal and external customers, resolving technical issues / problems, and training as requested by management / IT leadership.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·    Participate in any and all aspects of the systems development life cycle. The role will be exposed to a variety of projects and responsibilities within the IT department.

·    This may include, but, is not limited to:

o   Design, plan, develop, and/or maintain software applications, services, and/or systems.

o   Debug, code, test, write specifications for, roll out, and production support of software.

o   Technical services, software design and maintenance, and security operations.

o   Perform technical requirement gathering to provide documentation, estimation, and planning, as well as assist with project management of projects of various size / scope.

o   Maintain top-notch, approved design standards, as well as interface with Architecture.

·      Store engineering, coding based on design provided and roll out implementation.

·      Accurate work planning and execution, with accurate project and time tracking.

·      Responsible for the development of junior engineers and specialists (mentor and teach).

·      Responsible for defining code specifications and how systems will be constructed.

·      Responsible for code review / merge request process while accurately maintaining code repositories.

 

Requirements:

 

·      Bachelor's degree in Computer Science required, MIS or related field preferred.

   8+ years of experience in the role of full-stack Java Software Engineer required, including:

Strong software development background in the following technologies/tools:

Java, J2EE, Spring
React, Kendo, Angular, etc. Java Script
ActiveMQ, Kafka, JMS, or comparable message-driven programming
Release Automation Engineering with tools such as Jenkins, Jira, Puppet
Charts and diagramming tools for technical designs
Microservices and SOA development
 

Collaborative spirit and intellectual curiosity, with a desire to effectively communicate with all partners, backed by a strong work ethic, sense of urgency, and intrinsic motivation
Experience in designing, developing, and supporting high volume applications
Experience with monitoring tools (DynaTrace, NewRelic, Splunk, Matlock, ELK, etc.)
Ability to quickly troubleshoot critical production issues spanning applications / infrastructure and tune high volume applications
Experience configuring and tuning Application servers, including Tomcat / JBoss / WebLogic, as well as Web Servers, such as Apache / Nginx for high volume systems

Additional nice-to-have experience includes:
 

C/C++ programming
CI/CD experience
CDN experience such as Akamai
Technical experience in Retail environment (preferred)
Technical experience with Supply Chain systems / applications (strongly preferred)
In-memory computing experience, such as H2 IMDB, Apache Ignite, etc. (preferred)
