Primary Purpose of Position
Orders and maintains supplies for the Automotive and Motor Fleet Department , and maintains and repairs vehicles on campus. The responsibility of this position is to keep the fleet in operational condition with the fewest possible number of vehicles out of service at any time.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Valid driver’s license
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four year college or university and one year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Essential Job Duties
Schedule customer appointments.
Schedule the monthly cleaning and detailing for vehicles and carts.
Assign workloads to technicians using a labor scheduler.
Request parts through Materials Acquisitions and Logistics.
Communicate directly with customers regarding repairs needed and provide estimated completion times.
Issue parts from automotive parts crib and record stock levels digitally to properly restock.
Submit surplus forms for vehicles that have been approved for replacement.
Coordinate the removal of surplused vehicles with the asset management team.
Schedule vehicle state inspection renewals.
Other Work Responsibilities
Assist with maintaining the inventory of parts.
Coordinate inspections of shop equipment and lifts.
Maintain documentation for vehicles that are tagged out of service due to safety concerns.
Work closely with the finance department to document all reimbursable billing needs for work requests.
Maintain a clean shop and work area.
Perform other duties as assigned to support operations of the unit.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
One-year work experience in automotive or facilities administration role.
Experience working in Google Sheets and Docs and Microsoft Excel.
Experience scheduling vehicle upkeep and repairs.
Experience in record keeping and reporting.
Experience in inventory management.
Experience coordinating shop equipment and lift inspections.
Knowledge to assign workloads to technicians.
Experience coordinating and scheduling vehicle state inspections.
Two years’ customer service experience.
Basic understanding of automotive parts.
Experience in work loading and/or labor scheduling.
Experience coordinating and scheduling vehicle state inspections.
Customer service experience.
Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation and comprehension).
Effective skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications.
Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures.
Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
