Job Description
US Air Force LMR today is a robust, ultra-complex deployment of disjointed, multi-zone ASTRO systems on different system releases and using varying technologies. The Air Force has requested that all systems be merged together into a unified, global enterprise. The Air Force Program SUA FST will work closely with other FSTs and engineers to design and execute on technical efforts to achieve the Air Force’s communications goals. The SUA FSTs will work on a daily basis to assist in developing a strategy to accomplish the various upgrades and migrations. The SUA FSTs are hands-on, in-field executing on the integrations, migrations and expansion plans they have developed. The Air Force SUA FSTs may also be called upon to assist in preventative maintenance efforts, break-fix occurrences and even assist other programs in the enclave.
Requirements:

Responsibilities include optimization and support of complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband systems.
Maintain, optimize, test and document complex communications systems.
Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results
Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues
Team with engineering, project management and sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations
Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
2 year associate degree in electronics or IT preferred, or equivalent on-the-job experience
Security +, CompTIA or related certificate is highly desirable
Proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges.
Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN)
Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment
Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations

Strong self-management skills and interpersonal communication skills to work closely with Motorola’s customers and subcontractor (MSS) community, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams
Self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision
Ability to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations
Excellent communication (oral and written) skills and must also have high sense of urgency, strong work ethic and is results oriented
*Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer*
Additional Requirements:
Must be willing and able to obtain DoD Secret-level clearance as required
Must be capable of obtaining a secret clearance within 18 months of initial employment date
Required to lift equipment of ~ 50lbs
Required to complete standard form SF86 questionnaire for national security positions
Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting IP networks
Solid ability to administer and troubleshoot in an IT-type environment
Travel, of up to 75% at times, will be required. Frequency of travel dependent type of work at that time.
Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting on the Air Force systems.
Desired Qualifications:
Comp TIA Network+, MCSE, and CISSP certifications
Experience with Host Based Security Systems (HBSS)
Experience with CAC/PIV authentication based systems
Basic Requirements
Associates or Technical Certificate and 1+ years or 3+ years of IT, Networking, Public Safety, Astro, P25, LMR, RF or electronics experience.
