Purpose:

The Associate Commodity Manager collaborates closely internally with cross-functional team to build commodity strategies and then executes to achieve desired goals and initiatives. In addition, this position is responsible to build and sustain relationship with company's direct material suppliers to deliver products that consistently meet or exceed supplier performance goals and evaluates how the relationship fit into the overall supply chain short and long-term objectives. In this role, you will be encouraged to think outside the box and come up with creative new ways of doing things. You will develop a complete understanding of global supply base for specified commodities and understanding of all the cost drivers in the specific commodity.

Responsibilities:

Establishes the vision of the commodity(s) through development of objectives and strategies.
Works closely with cross-functional areas of quality, value management, engineering, marketing, operations, and finance to ensure alignment and execution of action plans, maximizing the company’s goals while minimizing overall internal risks.
Implements cost saving initiatives using various approaches such as: value management, bidding, analytical modeling, supplier development and continuous improvements (Lean/Six Sigma).
Initiate RFQs for new product development (NPD) and engineering change activities and awards business per strategy.
Manages supplier on time delivery (OTD), defective parts per million (PPM), business practices, lead time and PPAP approval metrics.
Supports related cross-functional supply chain activities.
Adherence to compliance and department standard work.
Executes special projects, stretch assignments, adhoc management requests and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education and Experience/Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering related field with some experience in supply chain or exposure through an advanced degree.
Packaging experience preferred.
Proficient use of SAP (or equivalent ERP), Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Teams). Experiences in Smartsheet and Power BI reporting are preferred.
Excellent negotiation, problem solving, analytical, and communication skills
Understanding of continuous improvement tools (Lean or Six Sigma)
Ability to influence and work collaboratively in a cross functional team setting
CPSM or APICS certification is preferred.
Travel required:10%-15% domestic travel and possibly up to 10% international travel.
