We’re looking for a Principal UX Designer to help shape the experience of our emerging property valuations platform suite. You will be an end-to-end product designer, armed with a wide range of tools, frameworks and approaches with which to solve complex design problems. The ideal candidate will be comfortable covering all aspects of the design process, with a keen passion for research.  

  

The project is a global operation, and the incumbent should be comfortable collaborating remotely with users, business stakeholders, engineering, and product teams in multiple time zones.    

  

Upon joining, this person will become a valued member and contributor to the global UX design and research community, driving towards more user-centric product development practices.    

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

·       Drives collaborative efforts with leadership and product management and engineering partners to help define and implement high-quality user experiences.

·       Gets buy-in for strategic design initiatives from internal teams and business stakeholders. 

·       Structures and guides design discovery and design validation approach. 

·       Identifies user pain points and emerging opportunities to guide future design work.  

·       Drives design solutions that deliver both business and customer impact. 

·       Executes with efficiency, deploying the right design method or deliverable at the right time. 

·       Creates deliverables and documentation to communicate design strategy and approach as well as design solutions and concepts. 

·       Ensures that our product experience is well-architected, usable, and intuitive 

·       Guides the delivery of seamless user experiences from concept to implementation.   

·       Assists in qualitative and quantitative data analysis. 

·       Research new design methods and modes of collaboration. Sets standards for which tools and methods to use as needed (i.e. providing framework during the solutioning process such as identifying when to create a journey map, etc.). 

·       Provides formal design mentorship to other designers on the team. May formally supervise more junior designers. 

·       Ensures that work/products completed by junior team members has been peer reviewed and reflective of design criteria feedback. Accountable for driving consistency of improvements across work/products. 

·       Participates in the broader community of practice via conference presentations and/or publishing UX-related articles. 

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

May provide formal supervision for 0 - 2 employees within single functional or operational area.   Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff.   Recommends staff recruitment, selection, and performance management feedback to D&T Management for indirect reports and/or junior team members.  Mentors and coaches team members (direct and indirect) to further develop competencies.  Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE  

Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent from four-year college or university in Visual Communications, Marketing, Industrial Design, Human Computer Interaction/Human Factors, Psychology, Art, Software Engineering or related degree, plus a minimum of 8+ years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience (equivalent work experience = 2 years’ experience for every year of higher-level education). 

 

Portfolio with a collection of digital artworks, traditional artwork, design concepts, case studies etc. is highly desired (For Researcher roles, portfolio includes sample projects that detail the research process from start to finish.  These projects must highlight both qualitative & quantitative methods, and generative and evaluative research".).

COMMUNICATION SKILLS 

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action. 

 

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE 

Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports. 

 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company. 

 

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES 

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite applications. 

 

Displaying advanced proficiency in relaying design thinking abilities, expanded or advanced knowledge, sketch output, etc. is highly desired. 

 

Has the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization up to C-suite level.
