The Senior Enterprise Architect is a key member of the Technology team who sits at the intersection of product development and current and future technology vision. The EA has a wealth of knowledge and experience across multiple domains and is responsible for driving the vision and execution of Carmax business capabilities and technology landscape across multiple business and technology teams. They serve a critical role, aligning business vision and technology strategy and championing this strategy across Product leadership team, Lead Developers, Solutions Architects and Technology Infrastructure. Additionally, the EA ensures the appropriate implementation of standards and is responsible for the delivery of key objectives for Architecture across the organization. The EA is also responsible for advising, educating, and helping establish the future technology landscape of Carmax across business units to ensure that Carmax technology solutions continue to deliver an unrivaled experience.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design an architectural vision for delivery teams aligned to the business strategy and product vision, stakeholder requirements and future capabilities and educate the team on this vision
Establish the current and future technology landscape for Carmax considering global principles, business vision, external best practices, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies
Developing and communicating the enterprise architecture
Aligning architecture initiatives across the enterprise ensuring cohesion of the solutions
Coordinating the implementation of architecture designs in partnership with domain and solution architects
Steward the cross-enterprise architecture design discussions
Coach and lead developers, solution architects and technical leads on best practices, re-usability, development best practices and understanding technical debt as well as the impact of these on availability and stability SLAs
Document best practices, enterprise development patterns, technology implementation strategies and drive education and adoption through the organization
Partner with leaders across the organization to assist in the development of roadmaps and guardrails including timeline, budget, team structure and skillset requirements
Assist in attracting, recruiting, and retaining a strong bench of skilled and engaged associates
Responsible for defining and achieving Key Results for the EA organization based on set Objectives

BA/BS Degree required. Master’s Degree a plus
10+ years of experience in Information Technology
2+ years of experience with lean/agile development processes
