Role Summary:

Provides leadership and direction, typically through subordinate managers. Has primary accountability for the performance of multiple departments. Develops and executes strategy for their respective business area based on general senior management direction and approved operating plans. Decisions are guided by long-term business unit strategy, priorities, and objectives. Drives strategic tax projects. Manages tax activities through subordinate managers. Manages the performance of subordinate managers, coaching and guiding on tax activities and strategy. Sets strategic priorities and allocates resources to align with organization-wide objectives. Has an expert understanding of tax laws and regulations. Recognized within the business as a leader in addressing tax related matters and establishing policy. Serves as an escalation point for complex tax issues or roadblocks; shepherds issues through to resolution. Responsible for the achievement of goals and objectives, talent management and supervision of less experienced managers. Completion of tasks may affect organizational achievement of objectives.

Responsibilities:

Leads consultation on tax issues, questions and problems and provides guidance to senior business managers and more junior tax managers. Works across global and regional groups to communicate tax matters effectively to senior business management. Leverages nuanced tax techniques to achieve business objectives. Is accountable for leading the resolution of highly complex business tax issues.

Establishes a comprehensive tax infrastructure. Leads the implementation of the tax strategy for more junior leaders and staff ensuring the appropriate level of tax awareness of responsibilities among more junior managers. Makes decisions, contributes to consensus building and manages a large virtual organization that balances market risk with other business objectives. Works with other business units, operations and technology and liaises with legal and compliance staff in relation to laws and regulations. Acts and influences on behalf of management to guide all tax staff into compliance with tax laws and regulations. Represents compliance with policies and standards to management, internal and external auditors and regulatory bodies. Reviews reports on team metrics results and makes team adjustments as needed to align performance with functional objectives. Coaches and guides more junior managers on improving the execution of the complicated tax activities and achievement of multi-faceted goals. Manages development and talent management processes for more junior managers. Coaches and counsels more junior managers, determines staffing and compensation recommendations and leads hiring and termination decisions.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND 12+ years of total relevant work experience and 5+ years of management experience.
