Facebook seeks a Policy Communications Manager to support a wide range of initiatives and programs for the Policy Communications Team. This role will provide communications support for our misinformation policies and enforcement, as well as any new products related to misinformation. Candidates should have strong media relations and writing skills, a good understanding of the U.S. and global political landscape, and familiarity with technology issues, our policies and the social debate around our platforms. A key part of this role will be partnering with our policy and product teams on our approach to misinformation and building communications plans, fielding media requests, drafting statements and responses, and providing background information to help reporters understand Facebooks policies and processes.
Policy Communications Manager, Misinformation Responsibilities
* Develop communications plans to support Facebook's misinformation product and policy work
* Manage in-bound press inquiries on a range of issues related to misinformation
* Develop and create a wide range of communications materials including blog posts, communications plans, statements, briefing materials for executives and more
* Develop and pitch stories related to Facebooks misinformation policies and processes
* Support product launches, policy advocacy, and announcements
* Work with our global Communications, Policy, Legal, Product, Partnership, and Operations teams to build, understand and communicate on policies and governance initiatives that support and protect our community and reputation
* Create sustainable programs that help educate the press, policy makers and groups on how Facebook works
* Develop proactive campaigns to educate new and existing users on issues related to Facebooks misinformation policies and enforcement
Minimum Qualifications
* 8+ years of communications, public relations or related experience
* Bachelor's degree in communications, liberal arts, public policy, social sciences or related field
* Experience in public policy, public affairs, crisis communications or issues management
* Experience creating messaging materials, and working collaboratively with cross-functional groups including Legal, Public Policy, Marketing, and Research
* Experience working with the media and in a deadline driven environment
* Experience managing reactive communications
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience distilling complex policy or technology concepts into plain language
* Experience developing media relationships with a wide range of reporters and bloggers
* Experience managing cross-functional stakeholder relations in fast-paced and ambiguous environments
* Experience working in a corporate communications organization and at a public relations agency
