This position supports the development of the Danaher Business System (DBS) culture in all associates in the Cepheid Molecular Diagnostics Business Unit by actively promoting and facilitating the use of DBS tools and methods for Continuous Improvement. This high influence position reports directly to the Lodi Site Director and will interface with all associate levels and various functions / departments
within the Business Unit.
This position will monitor Bothell Site projects and track to provide prioritization, status, resource allocation, schedule, deliverables and benefits while also helping to guide and improve each project by collaborating with project leaders, their teams and key stakeholders. Project and process
improvement will take the form of training, coaching and facilitating DBS project management and tools training as appropriate.
This position requires prior knowledge or experience in a scientific or engineering discipline to effectively engage professional scientific staff and understand Bothell site related activities
Roles, Responsibilities, and Expected Results of Position include, but are not limited to:
Drive targeted, sustainable improvement in QDCI (Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation) results that are tied to Policy Deployment (PD) and Daily Management (DM) by leveraging process improvement tools, consulting skills, and change management process.
* Engage leadership in developing and executing Business Unit kaizen event funnel and managing sustainment activities
* Effective facilitation and execution of kaizen events through all stages (charter ideation / creation, pre-work identification and completion, delivery of results in kaizen week, regular follow up and follow through on sustainment).
* Promote and facilitate diagnosis of work flow impediments and other wastes throughout the business, and provide expert counsel on appropriate DBS tools to eliminate them.
* Actively partnering with process owners to ensure results delivered / future state achieved.
- Assist site / company Leadership in the development of a DBS roadmap (i.e., how to use the DBS tools to drive sustainable improvement in results).
* Be the thought leader and expert in DBS work concepts, principles, and practices for Business Unit.
* Improve DBS training and facilitation skills by pursuing certification in DBS tools (CP process for self and others).
* Promote and facilitate associate development in various DBS tools, lean production, and kaizen leadership.
* Provide formal and informal training, coaching, mentoring to Cepheid associates: must be able to translate DBS concepts to local situations and help individuals and teams progress in understanding and correct application for sustainable business improvements.
* Facilitate other DBS training sessions when appropriate (other trainers and consultants from Danaher, Shingijutsu, or other).
* Develop advanced competency in wide range of DBS tools.
* Identifies and helps develop advanced ideas into DBS programs or projects that will significantly impact organizational objectives.
* Communicates with key team members of Cepheid Business Units and Vendors in order to determine priorities and develop project schedules and budgets.
* Structure Bothell projects and Project Management standards in order to define clear objectives, including project charter, mission and vision, business/technical case, key performance metrics and guiding principles.
* Maintain a repository of project knowledge and data.
