Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time or Part-Time Nights

You Will Be Responsible For:

* Serves as a resource person and expert in clinical practice while coordinating the implementation and maintenance of the nursing process within the hospital for an assigned shift in the absence of the Administrative staff.
* Is available for consultation by phone or in person.
* Evaluates clinical situations making competent judgements regarding patient care.
* Keeps informed regarding critically ill patients and their plan of care each shift.
* Evaluates effectiveness of care provided as evidenced by involvement Performance Improvement.

Qualifications
What You Will Need:

* ASN from an accredited school of nursing.
* Minimum of five (5) years of experience in acute care setting with demonstrated leadership abilities, appropriate decision making and a history of positive interpersonal relationships with patient, visitors and hospital staff.
* Currently licensed to practice as an RN in the State of Texas.
* BLS required
* ACLS required

Job Summary

Practices as a professional nurse within the limits of the Texas Nurse Practice Act assuming responsibility for coordinating the nursing regimen for all units for a designated shift. Is responsible for decision making regarding the concerns occurring during the assigned shift based upon historical data, current policies/procedures and standards of nursing care. Is responsible for staffing of nursing personnel. Consults with the Vice President for Patient Care Services and other hospital administrative staff as appropriate. Is designated as the hospital authority in the absence of administrative staff. The supervisor utilizes management skills, knowledge and the nursing process to ensure quality of care provided in harmony with the philosophy, goals and policies of the nursing department and hospital administration.
