POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Project Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager

Aerofit, LLC is a division of Consolidated Aerospace Manufacturing (CAM), a growing Aerospace Space supplier currently consisting of seven business units. We are focused on giving unparalleled customer service and customer value to market sectors that we serve. We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the increased demand for us to qualify new products for our customers, and enhance our ability to execute and accelerate qualification activities to support our opportunity for aggressive growth.

POSITION SCOPE:

The Project Engineer is responsible for evaluating designs and leading development and launch of new products into production. This position will focus primarily on projects that support our fitting products, and will be the lead for all technical and schedule aspects of the project/product throughout the production life cycle. The Project Engineer will work closely with internal Aerofit departments and our customers in order to coordinate and execute new product qualifications.
Responsibilities include:

* The Project Engineer needs to effectively communicate cross-functionally to ensure all internal departments are aware of project/product scope and requirements, so departments can determine appropriate level of resources.
* Provide input on a qualification plan that meets the needs of customer and of the Aerofits commercial expectations. Ongoing evaluation of the plan and communicating any risks or changes in schedule.
* Assists in determining critical path qualification plan, timing/risk tradeoffs etc.
* Tracks project with appropriate reporting, metrics, progress communication etc to maintain performance to schedule.
* Lead internal and customer milestone gate reviews
* Support monthly review with documented corrective action for any project shortfalls
* Identifies and reports challenges and assists in breaking down barriers to meeting commitments, requests appropriate resources and assistance to meet program goals
* Monitors performance to schedule and reports to Engineering Manager.
* Monitors and reports on design to cost targets, design for manufacturability issues related to design of product
* Identifies and participates in continuous improvement projects that enhance the ability to reduce time to qualify, reduce cost to qualify, and improve qualification schedule adherence.
* Development and maintenance of the technical data package, build package (including manufacturing instructions, routings, and specifications) as well as product testing requirements and methods
* Interface with production/operations personnel including operators, quality inspectors and shop floor supervisors

Required Skills:

* Bachelors degree; engineering degree preferred.
* 3-5 years of applicable engineering experience.
* Purposeful and impactful communication style, ability to communicate clearly, concisely and persuasively
* Solid modeling skills (Solidworks, and linear and non-linear FEA experienced preferred)
* Experience in designing, testing and launching products into production.
* Strong coordination, and organizational skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and experience with Microsoft project preferred.
