JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Frozen Food Clerk

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a primary contact for Safeway customers, the Frozen Food Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and

helpful service. The Frozen Food Clerk keeps the frozen food cases stocked with product, cleans

department area, and stacks items in freezer for other departments. Product is taken to the other

departments as needed. Boards received from trucks are loaded onto pallets. Pallets may be taken to

the sales floor with a pallet jack and product is loaded into cases. A six-wheel cart may be used to

transport items to display cases as needed. Items are removed from cases and leftover product is

restocked in the freezer. Cardboard boxes are broken down and placed in the bailer. Ice machine is

checked daily and filled as needed. End displays are restocked as per instructions. Inventory floor and

freezer stock is checked daily. Review order using invoice and note and discrepancies. Clean any spills

from leakage in cases or on department floor. In event of a freezer malfunction or power outage the

employee will remove all items, clean out the case and replace or restock products. May answer

telephone or answer pages.

JOB DUTIES:

Safeway Frozen Food Clerk employees are generally responsible for completing the following job duties:

1. Provide customer service as currently defined by the employer within the scope of the position and

within company policy.

1. Maintain cleanliness of frozen food display areas.

1. Replace stock in coolers, freezers, and in displays.

1. Unload boards and stack on pallets or six wheel carts.

1. Push pallet jacks or six wheel carts through store to display areas.

1. Inspect, rework stock product.

1. Other duties as assigned.

JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Ability to follow company customer service procedures. Demonstrated prior customer service skills or

related experience.

1. Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.

1. Ability to understand and follow directions.

1. Ability to work independently when necessary.

pages and receive instructions/information from other employees.

In 1939, Joe Albertson, a former Safeway district manager, took $5,000 he saved and $7,500 he borrowed from his wife’s Aunt Bertie, and partnered with L.S. Skaggs to open his first Albertsons store on 16th and State Streets in Boise, Idaho.
