The selected manager will be the central point of contact for interns and early-career staff in the Civil amp; Commercial Space (CCS) Systems Engineering (SE) organization. Responsible for managing all new early-career technical personnel assigned to a department (approximate staff size of 25), as well as ensuring appropriate training and support to these team members who support CSS programs. Includes all aspects of staff management, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching/mentoring, career development, performance management, compensation management, and separation of assigned employees. The manager will also design and run the intern program for selected students that will support CSS programs.
In addition, the candidate will be a Systems Engineer or Technical Leader on programs in the Civil amp; Commercial Satellites business area ndash; the split between direct (programs) and indirect is approximately 60%/40%. Regarding program assignments, the candidate will be responsible for technical requirements and execution of pre-proposal engineering efforts, proposal development, design and development, design reviews, technical documentation, program implementation, launch and mission operations, and disposal.
The candidate also will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Qualification
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Technical Field +9 years of experience, or Masters of Science Degree in technical field +7 years of experience.
1- 2 years experience leading, supporting and operating NASA/GSFC/JPL and/or science space missions amp; systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree
Strong experience in Systems Engineering for mission critical applications.
