Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) is an industry-leading provider for launch systems capabilities serving national security, military, civil and commercial customers. SSSD has an opening for a Prinicipal Material Process Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

Essential Functions :

Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials (with an emphasis on composites) and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications. May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.

Qualification

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 5 years of Parts Material amp;Process ( PMP) experience in an aerospace environment OR Masters of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 3 years of PM amp;P experience in an aerospace environment
* Experience with materials and process, Special Processes (including composite fabrication and test, coatings, structural bonding, NDT), Analytical Analysis (SEM/EDX, FTIR), Engineering experience
* Proficent computer skills on Microsoft Suite ( Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point)

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master rsquo;s degree in Materials Engineering
* Composites engineering and development experience
* Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)
* Excellent presentation and writing skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interface and collaborate with all levels of employees, customers and leadership
