Job Description Summary
Overview
Provide world-class support and expertise to MasterCards Oracle and Postgres database environments.
MasterCards Database Architects set the direction for the enterprise leadership to design and build highly available, scalable and efficient solutions following standards and security policies
Represent MasterCards Data Architecture team as a subject matter expert in the Oracle and Postgres sub domains.
Continually look for opportunities to create efficiencies and provide expertise to integrate technologies and platforms into current environments within the Oracle and Postgres sub domains.
Provide leadership and contribute to technology roadmaps to support MasterCards vision for Oracle and Postgres technologies.

Ability to understand customers data requirements and recommend appropriate database solution
The DBA will be responsible for designing, deploying and maintaining Oracle and Postgres database clusters that will enable and enhance software products and systems used every day by large platforms, applications and groups of users.
Creation and implementation of fully functional database clusters, ability to maintain multiple development, QA and production environments with experience in performance tuning.
Review existing configurations and installations and provide design decisions for improvements to platform environments.
Assist in planning and performing Oracle and Postgres database upgrades and migrations.
Responsible for providing day-to-day administration support and maintenance for existing and new Oracle and Postgres databases.
Perform production level support and be part of the on call rotation when required.
Work with Oracle and Postgres vendors and their respected support channels when required.
Develops and implements backup strategies and performs upgrades and patching
Identify inefficiencies in current databases and implement improved solutions.
Designs architectures to migrate data and entire database to a new hardware (or database platform) and implements migration
Perform production level support and be part of the on call rotation when required.
Leads and sets direction for MasterCards use of best practices and application database solutions.
Works with management to plan and implement new strategies including new tools and products that provide data services.
Leads efforts to identify, communicate and implement new strategies and represents Data Architecture in high level planning and long term direction.
This position will be responsible for supporting new and existing Oracle and Postgres database systems, both internally and future Cloud managed instances and will contribute in defining best practices in database administration, and introduce innovation with automation.
Work with multiple application teams and developers.
Assist in implementing long-term strategic goals for database development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.

Education (preferred):
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information systems or equivalent experience.

About You
Experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of Oracle and Postgres
Highly knowledgeable of Oracle and Postgres architecture and Internals
Proficient with Postgres monitoring and alerting tools/processes specifically PEM
Proficient in Oracle and Postgres replication technologies
Proficient in designing and supporting Oracle and Postgres clustered environments
Experience in working Dataguard environment
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Perform debugging, tuning and performance enhancement as well as automation of operational and continuous integration aspect of the Oracle and Postgres platforms.
Proficient with collecting diagnostics and tuning Oracle and Postgres as well as SQL tuning
Proficient with Oracle and Postgres procedural
Proficient with the Linux operating system, specifically Oracle Linux Enterprise.
Working knowledge of Data Modelling.
Working knowledge of scripting languages, Bash, ksh, perl etc.
