Job Description

The Lead Validation Engineer is a critical role within the Powertrain & Electrification Validation team. This person should have a wide breath of knowledge and experience, components and subsystems. The LVE will serve as the single point contact for a propulsion subsystem, responsible for all aspects of validation of their assigned program(s). This position requires working with product teams, calibration, vehicle teams, lab operations, and supplier organizations. In Powertrain & Electrification Validation, the LVE may be assigned to RESS (Rechargeable Energy Storage System), Drive Unit, Engine, or Transmission programs.

Responsibilities Include:

* Develop, own and drive execution of program-specific validation plans
* Provides validation subsystems technical expertise to successfully meet program deliverables
* Prioritize workload and negotiate resources necessary to support execution
* Forecast and manage test properties, fixtures
* Guide a team of CVEs, VEs, LSTEs, and ensure execution of robust propulsion ADV plans for all applicable subsystem programs
* Track sub-component validation status & sign-off of all program related test reports
* Responsible for system ADV plan, sign-off validation complete
* Co-Chair Development and Validation meeting for assigned program, providing coordination, tracking and status of all aspects of development and validation
* Provide regular status reports to the Program Execution Team and report out at other program team meetings (Product and Process Integration Review, etc.) as required
* Facilitate post-test teardown and DRBTR
* Ensure all Certification/Regulation Compliance testing is completed
* Ensure proper project reporting, review, closure, documentation and archival including capturing all lessons learned and appropriate updates to FMEA templates
* Participate in DFMEAs and DRBFMs
* Provide mentoring and feedback to engineers supporting validation activities, CVEs, VEs, and LSTEs.
* Works constantly to drive down complexity of ADV plans, reduce hardware when possible and seek opportunities to leverage analysis for a fully optimized ADV plan

Additional Job Description

Basic Required Skills:

* Minimum 5 years of automotive engineering experience
* Experience in development & validation, calibration, or design release in related area
* Minimum required Education: Bachelors Degree in: Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science, Information Technology, and/or Chemistry
* Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and to make sound recommendations
* Proven track record to influence without authority
* Demonstrated ability to complete vague and ambiguous assignments with little direction
* Demonstrated ability to present complex technical topics in forums such as PAPIR
* Expert knowledge of system/component content, technical requirements (SSTS, CTS, VTS, etc.), development needs, program timing, and standard validation tests
* Understanding of design of experiments, accelerated life testing, reliability and methods

Preferred Skills:

* MS Engineering
* Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area (INCA & MDA software & ETAS hardware preferred)
* DFSS and Root Cause / Red-X experience
