Role Summary
Pfizer's Global Business Services - Financial Services (FS) organization delivers best-in-class accounting, finance and compliance operations globally for the Pfizer enterprise. The scope of services provided include Record to Report processes: US Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Statutory Reporting, Financial Reporting, Intercompany, Financial Master Data Governance, Risk Management & Compliance, Capital, Inventory, Lease and Balance Sheet; Transaction Processing in Invoice to Pay, Indirect Tax, Order to Cash, Credit Risk and Gross to Net; Operational Transfer Pricing; GBS Treasury Operations, and MAPP Administration.
The Controls Optimization (CO) Center of Excellence is part of the Risk Management & Compliance function focused on governance and continued optimization of Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICFR). The CO Lead will be responsible for:
* Engaging stakeholders to ensure strong control environment is maintained. Stakeholders include Internal Audit, Controllers, Digital, Global Process Leads, Business Process Owners and the community of control performers and approvers.
* Providing control guidance and educating user groups around governance, change management, process optimization and transformation, digital, audit and control performance reporting
* Supporting ICFR controls globally leveraging the SPA Process Control (SAP PC) platform
* Partnering on transformational initiatives (M&A, divestures, etc) to integrate control requirements into design
* Leading continuous improvement initiatives
Role Responsibilities
* Leadership role on team responsible for below activities:
* Governance of global ICFR activities and related documentation
* Control performance monitoring and reporting and executing escalation protocol
* Corporate Audit and KPMG global testing support
* Partnering with broader RM&C team to complete proactive risk assessment activities
* Developing and executing annual global process documentation reviews
* Continued process optimization and consulting on related control implications
* Support of all internal and external audit readiness activities for all functional groups
* Developing and delivering periodic updates and trainings with all stakeholders to communicate best practices and emerging control topics
* Supporting remediation of control deficiencies
* Researching and resolving discrepancies and complex technical accounting issues as necessary
Additionally, The CO Lead will be expected to:
* Consistently identify process improvement opportunities including the timely implementation of solutions
* Lead global projects and other initiatives in addition to existing role and responsibility
* Actively (formally and informally) mentor key colleagues outside of your direct report team
* Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with conflict and confrontation
* Recognized as Pfizer subject matter expert for regional and key accounting activities
* Willingness to accept occasional travel for meetings and projects

Qualifications
Education & Experience
* Bachelor degree in accounting or finance required
* Masters degree preferred
* CPA required (or equivalent international certification)
* 5+ years of relevant functional accounting or finance experience
* Public accounting experience preferred
* Key ERP and edge system experience preferred
* Experience in ICOFR and SOX
* Experience navigating a large, complex organization and managing stakeholders interests using a matrixed organization
* Strong project management skills
* Experience influencing and executing complex solutions involving multiple groups
* Experience in developing and executing raining at all levels of the organization
Technical Skills Requirements
* Advanced accounting, compliance and financial reporting skills that include the following:
* Excellent analytical skills with a demonstrated ability in risk identification, measurement and assessment, risk monitoring, reporting and escalation
* Demonstrated advanced technical US GAAP and financial reporting knowledge and experience
* Proficiency with Microsoft O365 suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Sharepoint, OneDrive and Teams) required
* Experience with workflow automation, data analytics, and visualization tools preferred (e.g. Alteryx, Power Automate, Tableau, Spotfire, and Power BI)
* Advanced Excel skills
* Excellent oral, written, and overall communication skills
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
* Ability to informally and formally develop and influence staff and senior accountants through coaching/mentoring.
* Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems in an unstructured environment
* Strong business acumen and professionalism with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and operations colleagues in all applicable Pfizer Finance and business functional areas
* Ability to perform and deliver in areas involving ambiguity
