The Impact Youll Make in this Role

As a Product Design Specialist-Biopharmaceutical Purification Focus, you will work to drive growth by designing and validating innovative products. You will have an opportunity to gain experience working with a diverse range of pharmaceutical processes and applications. You will apply advanced design principles to the industrys next generation integrated purification solutions. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse global cross-functional team to transfer designs to manufacturing locations around the world. Additionally, significant experience will be gained in designing products for an evolving regulated market following a medical device design and design control framework.

You will also have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

* Participating in design projects, design execution, design improvements and design control of complex scope with a focus on mechanical/hard good design
* Working on a global cross-functional, multisite teams of marketing, product design and development, product engineering, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, application development, and business development
* Applying product design-related knowledge including design principles, methods, and processes (e.g. concept sketching, story board/context sketches, CAD modeling and rendering, model making, rapid prototyping and structural design and testing)
* Creating detailed drawings and documentation packages needed for Design Control and Design Transfer to manufacture products
* Developing and executing test plans for design verification and validation
* Researching emerging and new applications for which new product design elements will result in significant market differentiation

Your Skills and Expertise:

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
* Five (5) years of combined Industrial experience in product design, structural analysis and testing, design-forward product development, user experience design and/or other design-centric field experience in a private, public, university, government or military environment

Additional Qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

* Masters degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Design Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution
* Experience in designing products for use in a regulated environment
* Understanding of polymeric material behavior and its use in pressure boundary design
* Experience using CAD software such as: Unigraphics, ProENGINEER/PTC Creo and/or SOLIDWORKS
* Experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software such as: Abaqus, SOLIDWORKS and/or Ansys

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic and international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
