Title: Meat Associate Team Leader Team: Meat

Exempt status: Non Exempt

Reports to: Team Leader, Store Team Leader

General Summary

Reports directly to Team Leader. Assists in overall management and supervision of the Department. Can be Responsible for Team Member hiring, development, and terminations as designated by TL. Also responsible for profitability, expense control, buying/merchandising, regularity compliance, and special projects as assigned by TL. Complete accountability for all assigned aspects of department operations.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

TEAM MEMBER DEVELOPMENT

Consistently, communicate and model Whole Foods vision and goal. Assist in interviewing, selection, training, development, and counseling Team Members in a manner, which builds and sustains a high performing team and minimizes turn over. Make hiring and termination decisions with guidance of Team Leader and Store Team Leader. Establish and maintain a positive work environment, which sustains an exceptionally high level of Team Member morale. Select and develop supervisors as potential Associate Team Leaders. Assist Team leader in providing timely, thorough and thoughtful Performance evaluations. Communicate and maintain employee safety and security standards.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Help manage inventory and pricing to achieve targeted gross profit margin. Learn and assist in preparing; annual sales and expenses, and annual operating budget. Achieve budgeted expense levels. Achieve department profit, and store profit contribution targets. Maintain exceptional level of customer service relations. Maintain awareness of new products, and regularly assist to incorporate new products into overall product mix. Help to manage the buying/ordering process to meet Whole Foods Market quality standards, maintain competitive pricing and achieve targeted sales. Help establish and maintain positive and productive vendor relationships.

MERCHANDISING/MARKETING MANAGEMENT

Help to develop and maintain creative store layout and product merchandising. Establish creative and competitive weekly and monthly u201Cspecialsu201D which support established merchandising and marketing themes. Sustain exceptional level of knowledge/awareness of relevant competitors and industry trends.

COMMUNICATION

Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationship with Team Leader, Store Team Leader, Meat coordinator, Team Leaders, and all Team Members. Model and cultivate effective inter-department and inter-store communication.

MANAGEMENT REPORTING

Provide accurate, complete information in daily, weekly, monthly, annual and u201Cad hocu201D management reports. Thorough and complete documentation in support of Team Member discipline and counseling activities.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of, and ensure compliance with relevant regularity rules and standards, including: OSHA, Department of Labor, Health and Sanitation, FDA, Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

Must have journeyman Meat cutting experience 1-2 years department experience preferred. Passion and appreciation for department. Patient and enjoys working and mentoring people. Ability to work well with others as a team. Strong organizational skills. Thorough knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management. Excellent verbal and written communication. Strong organizational skills. Knowledge of all relevant Whole Foods Market policies and standards.

Working conditions:

Standing and walking for extended periods of time, up to 8-10 hours. Bending, stooping, climbing. Mental and physical dexterity. Unassisted heavy lifting. Work in varying temperatures (coolers, etc. when needed). Use of box cutters. Repetitive hand and arm motion. Use of sharp knifes and operates cutting equipment (must be 18 years old). Iteration of duties.

Additional Responsibilities:

Maintain a safe and sanitary department. Report all life safety and fire hazards to your Team Leader for correction. Comply with all occupational safety and health regulations.
