The Facebook Portal Team, is building products that make it easier for people to connect with the ones they love most. We are a team of world-class experts developing and shipping products at the intersection of hardware, software and content. We have a clear mandate to ship products at scale. In particular, seemingly impossible products that define new categories and that advance Facebook's mission of connecting the world. The Portal Photos mission is to help people share and enjoy memories together by enabling a helpful and expressive photographer in the home. Portal will intelligently capture and curate memories and moments in new ways, as people live their lives, whether that's in the home or outside of the home with their smartphone. These experiences will provide the control and privacy people expect from Facebook. In addition to making moments more meaningful through Portal, we will leverage these photo experiences to bring new content for sharing and reflecting on Facebook Memories, Messenger and WhatsApp. A successful candidate in this role is self-driven, passionate and doesnt mind delving into different areas of the stack. The person should be willing to take initiative and execute consistently in an agile, fast-paced environment. Strong communications and interpersonal skills are key given that we work with many internal and external engineering teams, partners, designers, architects, product and program managers.

Android Software Engineer, Portal Responsibilities

* Work closely with our product, design and partner teams to build a delightful photos experience using Android and Kotlin.

* Build infrastructure pieces and developer tooling that improve developer efficiency.

* Analyze and optimize User Interface and Backend Application code for efficiency, performance and reliability by creating dashboards and defining metrics to monitor the overall Portal health.

Minimum Qualifications

* 3+ years of software development experience.

* 1+ years of experience with Android software development in Android (Java) and/or Kotlin.

Preferred Qualifications

* B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent software development experience. 1+ years of experience with Kotlin.
