Research Engineer, Computer Vision (University Grad)

Job Description

Our team is the Facebook AI Research (FAIR) computer vision engineering team. Our team's mission is to be at the forefront of computer vision research and technology. We do this in several ways, by partnering with research scientists and conducting state-of-the-art research, by producing open source tools and platforms to make research reproducible and accessible, and by partnering with production Facebook teams to make sure that cutting-edge research becomes cutting-edge AI infrastructure and products.

Research Engineer, Computer Vision (University Grad) Responsibilities

* Develop highly scalable algorithms based on machine learning and neural network methodologies.

* Collaborate with Facebook AI Research (FAIR) scientists to facilitate research that enables learning the semantics of data (images, videos, audio).

* Apply knowledge of relevant research domains along with expert coding skills to platform and framework development projects.

* Analyze, process, and annotate large datasets for use in the training and evaluation of AI systems for use in both research and production tasks.

* Adapt machine learning and neural network algorithms to best exploit modern parallel environments (e.g. distributed clusters, GPUs, TPUs, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

* Currently has or in the process of obtaining PhD or BS/MS in computer science or related field and 2+ years of experience in Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence.

* Experience developing machine learning algorithms or machine learning infrastructure in Python or C/C++.

* Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

* 1+ year(s) experience in a software engineering role with emphasis on machine learning and Computer Vision.

* Research experience in machine learning, computer vision, or the ethical use of AI.

* Experience building systems based on machine learning (especially deep learning) methods.

* Experience using frameworks like PyTorch, Caffe2, Tensorflow, Keras, and/or Chainer.

* Experience with storage systems, distributed systems, HPC, compilers, and/or CUDA programming.
