DICKS Sporting Goods is seeking full-time Warehouse Associates to join our distribution center team in Conklin, NY for both daylight and overnight shifts at the DSG Distribution Center. These roles support various departments within the Warehouse and are all full time!
Associates at our Distribution Centers are responsible for the final transportation of merchandise to the sales floor. Our critical team members literally deliver the DICKS experience to our customers.
Employees at the DICKS Sporting Goods Distribution Center are responsible the movement of merchandise from one functional area to another either manually or by operating power equipment within the Conklin Distribution Center.
Shifts for positions:
Shift 1A: Sunday - Wednesday 6:30am - 5:00pm
Shift 1B: Wednesday - Saturday 6:30am-5:00pm
2nd Shift: Wednesday - Saturday 5:00pm - 3:30am
Essential Functions of this position include:
* Performs unloading, loading, staging & warehousing of cartons, practicing safe & secure procedures & following proper material handling methods for maximum productivity
* Safely Operates manual and mechanical equipment according to procedures
* Completes all documentation neatly and accurately and reports any errors found to Department Supervisor
* Verifies purchase order, location numbers, case pack quantities and other information prior to receiving, picking or loading merchandise
* Must determine where pallets are to be placed in locations based on box size and product
* Practices safe and secure material handling methods and distributes merchandise properly in accordance with processing standards
* Performs spot checks of system to ensure merchandise is sorted properly
* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Success Profile:
* Must achieve equipment operator certification on the job and operate as necessary for the position
* Must be willing to be trained and operate radio frequency (RF scanning equipment as necessary for the position
* Must pass a background check and drug screen
* Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, push, pull & lift cartons/bins weighing approximately 10-50 pounds repetitively
* Ability to keep pace with production standards
* Basic reading comprehension and numerical reasoning skills
* Manual dexterity
* Candidates must be at least 18 years of age
Additional Benefits:
* Competitive hourly rates (varied depending on position
* 2nd shift employees receive an additional .75 cents on their hourly rate

The Story begins ...
DICK’S Sporting Goods was founded in 1948 when an 18 year-old Dick Stack was working at an Army surplus store in Binghamton, New York. An avid fisherman, Dick was approached by the store owner to come up with a list of products needed to get into the fishing tackle business. After Dick presented his suggestions, the owner told him he was a dumb kid and had no idea what he was doing. Dick was upset and promptly quit. He went to his grandmother’s house where he spent a lot of time as a kid and told her what had happened.
Dick’s grandmother asked how much it would cost to build the store himself. Dick said it would cost $300. His grandmother then went to the cookie jar where she kept her life savings and gave him $300 and told him “do it yourself.” Dick used that money and his relentless work-ethic to open a bait-and-tackle shop in Binghamton. By the late 1970's, he expanded his product line to include much of what you’ll find at DICK’S Sporting Goods today.
