General Summary
This leadership position reports into the VP, Customer Strategy, and located in the Bentonville, AR Sales office. The Director, Customer Business Development is accountable for partnering directly with the VP, Walmart Campbells Snacks and is part of the VP, Walmart Campbells Snacks Cross Functional Leadership Team. This role leads the coordination between the HQ Customer Strategy team, and the Walmart and Sams Customer teams, to ensure successful attainment of annual operating plan (AOP) targets across the team.
This leader must work effectively, aligned closely with each Customer Vice President of Walmart Sales and cross-functionally, to build and execute the vision for driving growth at these customers.
The position will require strong cross-functional leadership, financial acumen, customer interface skills, and strategic agility capabilities. The ability to manage in complex situations and boil down to simple interpretation and action steps is critical.
This role is responsible for Walmart US stores and Sams Club. For these customers, the individual in this position will:
1. Support CSLs to build effective customer plans to achieve AOP customer-level targets
2. Enable ST & LT joint business planning as the primary linkage between field CSLs and HQ 3. Drive innovation and new products with customer teams, tailored to customer needs
4. Manage bottom-up forecasting to feed demand planning & sales and ops planning (IBP) 5. Drive consistent business process and standardization across Planning, Selling and Execution
Primary Responsibilities
* Identify and pursue new opportunities within channel for business development
* Facilitate sharing between internal sales team & HQ Customer Strategy team (Sales Strategy, Shopper Insights & Category Leadership, RGM & Trade Planning & Shopper & Omni-Channel Marketing) to identify and execute against initiatives to drive towards sales targets
* Facilitate trade planning and execution / monitoring for relevant customers
* Lead joint business planning for relevant brands and customers
* Drive innovation / new product launches with customer teams for relevant brands
* Oversee forecasting to support demand planning and IBP
* Lead the facilitation of bi-monthly revenue and trade forecast calls
Job Complexity
* Develop productive working relationship with various cross-functional groups (e.g. Sales Strategy, Sales Finance, RG&TM, Customer Teams, etc.)
* Develop close working relationships with customer teams to understand business performance, drivers, trends and opportunities at the customer level
* Requires strong understanding of and experience with total P&L management
* Strong customer, channel, and partner prospecting ability
* Analytical acumen to determine optimal activation through test and learn models
* Align with Campbell's strategic goals to enable to assess any customer's competitive position and strategies and understand how they determine a customer investment strategy (product innovation, customer marketing and integrated marketing) that will best support a customer's growth and profit trends
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree required (Master's Degree preferred)
* Minimum of 12 years industry experience, including trade management, customer planning, and customer / field account management
