The Member Engagement and Internal Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing business case, strategy, systems and communications collateral that reflect Idaho Behavioral Health Plan member needs and preferences while consulting, coaching and equipping senior leadership, team members and providers regarding allyship, multicultural competency, diversity, equity and inclusion. Represents Optum Idaho by interfacing with member, provider and other community stakeholder representatives to empower member-centric focus in all business operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Apply strategic business and corporate communications acumen to engage and improve member experience and communication across the enterprise.
* Lead member population analysis and community advisory committee to anticipate and evaluate targeted member communications needs and opportunities, and cascade findings and best practices through advising and educating, creating materials and presenting for internal and external audiences.
* Lead member outreach efforts and accountable for member contractual communication requirements.
* Analyze and understand complex subject matter and translate it into simplified, engaging messages for targeted population in the form of member handbooks, newsletters and other deadline-driven or ad hoc publications and collateral.
* Develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, championing member-centric needs and developing business-case solutions for addressing gaps.
* Provide management oversight to internal business leads and consultation to business partners to ensure accurate, effective and consistent message delivery and implementation of communications initiatives, adhering to corporate brand, style and customer-desired terminology and messaging.
* Draft and edit various communications materials, including strategic communication and marketing plans, key messages, Q&As, talking points, speeches, social media campaigns and presentations, applying principles of effective marketing communication with an informed perspective of inclusive, empathetic and welcoming messaging to diverse and underserved populations.

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in business, sociology, journalism, marketing, public relations, communications or relevant field of study.
* 5+ years of communications experience in one or a combination of these relevant fields: health care, social services, public health, corporate diversity and inclusion programming, community engagement or workforce development.
* Experience working in cross-functional teams
* You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location.
* If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. Preferred Qualifications
* Master's level college degree in communications, social work, business, conflict resolution or relevant field.
* Experience in working with community-based mental health programs that assist the Idaho Medicaid population.
* Proficiency in MS Office suite and familiarity with enterprise systems supporting content creation and governance, including Open Text-Documentum, Workfront, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, SharePoint, Adobe.
* Understanding of managed-care entities (e.g., ACO, CCO, HMO)
* Understanding of state, federal, and private healthcare guidelines, regulations, procedures and products (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, HIPPA, MIPPA)
Demonstrated Skills:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills sought out as trusted advisor to senior leadership.
* Experience creating and executing targeted communications plans to support business goals and drive brand engagement while supporting member and internal engagement.
* Experience managing budgets and programs in support of multicultural, diverse or under-represented populations and regulatory compliance.
* Experience in social work, non-profit organizations or corporate social responsibility initiatives.
* Knowledge of AP Style and corporate brand practices.
* Skilled in leading multiple projects of varying scale and scope simultaneously in a fast-paced and highly matrixed environment.
* Experience managing vendor relationships.
* Skilled at working with and leading multiple stakeholders, executives, and business teams - both internal and external - and driving toward consensus; Includes interacting with, and providing counsel to, senior leaders.
* Ability to contribute as a subject matter expert and leader on a cross-functional team.
