D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Underwriting Manager. The right candidate will manage and supervise Underwriters, ensuring the accuracy of the underwriting of manual loans or the validation of automated findings on government loans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

On a daily basis, assign loans to staff for prompt underwriting decision
Assist Underwriters in prioritizing RUSHs, conditions, and newly submitted loans to meet required turn-around time
Responsible for overseeing the manual underwriting or the validation of automated findings on conventional, Alt A, and government loans. Ensure that their staff is proficient and updated on all guidelines that allow them to review and make underwriting decisions on all delegated products with various investors
Advise Underwriting staff when a final decision is difficult, marginal, and/or assistance is needed on appraisal issues
Upon rejection of a loan by an Underwriter, the Underwriting Manager will perform an in-depth review and discuss with the Regional Production Manager to ensure that all avenues have been explored
Provide training based on post-closing or audit findings
Act as a liaison, when necessary, between branch personnel and underwriting staff
Coordinate the resolution of post-closing issues
Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Able to travel overnight
Report vacation, sick time, and bonus income to A-P using Peoplesoft
Work closely with the Regional Underwriting Manager to manage staffing and other department issues
Schedule weekly meetings to review new programs or changes and discuss issues from the previous week

Supervisory Responsibilities

* Supervises 2 or more employees

Required Qualifications

Bachelor%27s degree from four-year college or university and/or three years of experience
Proficiency with the underwriting module of Empower
FHA Direct Endorsement/VA LAPP
Must have a valid and current Mortgage Loan Originator License as required per state regulations
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email
Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
The noise level is generally moderate

Preferred Qualifications

Strong communication skills
Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
Ability to accurately and efficiently process and record large volumes of data
