How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
This position will gain exposure to the entire flight safety process at a major air carrier including exposure to the data and decision science processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for communicating analysis based on pilot reports (ASAP), aircraft recorder data (FOQA), and other data sources such as damage data, injury information, meteorological conditions, crew background, and human performance data. Responsibilities include duties to support the Flight Safety Data and Decision Science team, Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) team, Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) team, and Air Safety Investigations team. These duties will involve data collection, transformation, modeling, and presentation of information derived through analysis. The data collected supports Delta's Safety Management System (SMS) which is a cornerstone of Delta's pro-active accident and incident prevention system.
Core Responsibilities:
Investigate, analyze, and integrate information from disparate datasets
Develop and test hypotheses through iterative analysis
Work closely with data scientists to create clear summaries of results
Develop and implement a communication strategy that includes dissemination of information to key stakeholders
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
Applicants must be in a degree seeking program, highly motivated, have strong communication skills, the desire to learn, and possess a current passport. The following are preferred qualifications: Experience using technology to work with datasets and visualization of information.

A passion for aviation and the want to learn more about the flight safety team and Delta Air Lines. Must be currently, and throughout the duration of the CoOp, be enrolled in a 2 or 4 year university or college.
