The Emergency Department Technician provides technical support for physicians and nurses, working under the guidance and supervision of the department Charge Nurse. The Emergency Department Technician assists staff nurses with patient care to optimize outcomes. The Emergency Department Technician assists staff and providers with organization of workstations, provider order entry, telephone and paging requirements, inputting charges and organizing charts.

Education / License / Certification:

* BLS Certification required (must be obtained by the end of the month after 90 days of hire or placement)
* Phlebotomy certification preferred
* Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Tech, paramedic program preferred

Experience / Skills:

* Prior experience in Emergency Department specialty preferred
* Prior laboratory/phlebotomy experience preferred
* Good grasp of medical terminology
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced ever-changing environment
* Attention to detail and concentration
