Assists with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Assists with personal hygiene, takes vital signs and changes bed linens. May serve and collect food trays, provide for between-meal nourishment, and clean, sterilize, store and prepare other supplies. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a registered nurse or supervisor. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months of related experience. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

The Student Nurse/ Nurse Intern assists with direct patient care, including vital signs, personal hygiene, dietary needs, ambulation and signed off nursing skills, for neonate, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. Reports to the patient care nurse and charge nurse.

Responsible for demonstrating ethical and appropriate clinical behavior while continually assuring the patients dignity, privacy and rights with respect to the populations.

Education: Must have completed the first semester of RN school that must have covered the fundamentals of nursing.

Experience: None

Licenses/Certifications: Currently enrolled in nursing school. Must submit transcript showing successful completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing course.

Must have a current BLS certification prior to hire date. Certification must be approved by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (hands on skills test).
