Manufacturing Controls Engineering Co-Op
Our plants are the groundwork for GM and a hotbed of innovation. We need a controls engineering co-op to assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialist equipment. As a controls engineer co-op you would be accountable for controls engineering and electrical support for engine programs. These tasks would teach you electrical root causing analysis and problem solving as well as leadership skills to provide technical support and direction to support personnel/skilled trades within the organization. Quality and safety are extremely meaningful to us, so enforcing safe work practices is the highest priority as well as implementing objectives for ergonomics, health/safety and housekeeping. This means that you would have to investigate system and equipment problems and provide technical input in problem resolution.
Responsibilities:
* Leads electrical projects including new, operations improvements, and periodic repair and replacement.
* Participates in functional area plant meetings and related activities to represent engineering and to assist in reaching the plant's performance goals.
* Develops cost estimates, investment forecasts, business cases, appropriation requests and plans for minor project activity
* Utilizes statistical methods for continuous improvement on plant systems
* Develops and monitors planning timetables and projects schedules
* Coordinates and communicates the development of changes to improve conditions for the assembly process
* Programming of manufacturing technology
* Analyzes product, process and technology to figure out the best methods of manufacture
* Assists in the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes
Manufacturing Electrical Engineer Co-Op

We are seeking Manufacturing Electrical Engineer Co-ops to do hands-on work that would have the opportunity to add directly to the bottom line of our culture and our company. You will have many responsibilities and accountabilities like control systems engineering and electrical support for programs. You will learn how to lead electrical projects for several different areas of the plant including operations improvements, new and replacement programs. This is a hands-on position in which you may work with periodic repairs and to provide technical support and direction to support personnel/skilled trades.
Responsibilities:
* Investigates system and equipment problems and provides technical guidance in problem resolution
* Develops cost estimates, investment forecasts, business cases, appropriation requests and plans for minor project activity
* Coordinates with area manufacturing engineers on process and equipment planning, including model change, throughput, sourcing, etc.
* Supports GMS and Quality Network implementation initiatives
* Utilizes statistical methods for continuous improvement on plant systems
* Implements safe work practices as the highest priority and implements objectives for ergonomics, health/safety and housekeeping
* Maintains good working relationships with peers, hourly employees, union, management, supplier community and collaborates with vital support functions outside of the assembly plant

You would be responsible for the analyzing efficiency of manufacturing operations and changes related to personnel, material, machines and facilities. Work involves leadership ability, critical thinking and communication skill as well as exercises independent determinations with mentorship from supervisors.

* Frequent contact with others outside the work group
* Assists in developing accurate methods and optimum operation layout
* Makes operation descriptions and performs the vital calculations to complete studies and change routines or other systems of labor and material control
Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Co-Op

We are seeking Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Co-ops to do hands-on work that could add directly to the bottom line of our culture and our company. You will have many responsibilities and accountabilities, like mechanical support for programs. You will learn how to lead mechanical projects for several different areas of the plant including operations improvements and new and replacement programs. This is a hands-on position in which you may work with periodic repairs and to provide technical support and direction to support personnel/skilled trades.
Responsibilities:
* Mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving
* Analyze product, process and technology to figure out the best methods of manufacture
* Assist in the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes
* Assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment
* Troubleshoot special maintenance and equipment problems
* Coordinate machinery upgrade projects
Manufacturing Quality Co-Op
At GM, we have a relentless desire to win and do it with integrity. This has a direct effect on quality of our vehicles and our work. Our manufacturing facilities are the rock bed of our business, and we look to uphold quality in everything we do! Our Manufacturing Quality Analysts Co-Ops are responsible for supporting a fast response, reliability testing, analysis and general problem-solving skills and processes. You would ensure that product and process changes are detailed in the appropriate systems for future use.
Responsibilities:
* Provide technical support and oversight to ensure effective quality control systems are in place and adhered to
* Engage and support resources to assist in root cause identification
* Perform layered audits and address non-conformances
* Effectively address and respond to customer concerns via problem solving and local procedures
* Initiate and monitor containment efforts
* Collect, analyze and react to data regarding First Time Quality
* Ensure compliance to processes and GMS requirements
* May handle site audit requirements and Built in Quality certification process
Additional Job Description
Qualifications:
* Currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering/Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls Engineering, and Industrial Engineering
* Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
* Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week
* Willing to work in a plant environment
* Enrolled in a co-op program at your university
* Able to work at least 1 co-op rotation that lasts for 20+ weeks
* Graduates between fall 2021 - Fall 2025
