DESCRIPTION
The Amazon Devices-Demand Planning team is seeking an outstanding Senior Data Engineer to design, manage, and continuously enhance our data infrastructure for Amazon device family demand forecasting. Amazon device demand forecasting involve learning from different data sources. This role provides solid foundation to the continued growth of Amazon Device division as we have grown from the first Kindle E-Reader to a vast portfolio of Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablet, E-Reader, Ring and many other devices.
In this role, you and your team will manage existing data resources, explore new data fields, implement new technologies and tooling to further enable scientific ML forecasting and analytics, as well as help drive scalable data sharing and storage practices. As a data engineering manager, you will split your time between hands on development and managerial activities. You will gather requirements through direct interaction with science, BIE, as well as software development teams. You will track the performance of our resources and related capabilities, constantly evolving our offering in order to scale our capability set with the growth of the business and needs of our customers.
The ideal candidate will have outstanding communication skills, proven data infrastructure design and implementation capabilities, strong business acumen, and an innate drive to deliver results. This candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity and will enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment with cross-functional teams and systems.
Key responsibilities:
Find, build and maintain the most authoritative and comprehensive source for pricing data from orders, accounting and finance sources by partnering with science and dev team
Publish sales, price and promotions datasets for wider consumption across the devices org
Develop and maintain data orchestration frameworks and alerting for production pipelines
Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing data sources and feature library to drive better demand forecasting
Lead DE team in adoption of best practices in data integrity, test design, validation, and documentation
Coordinating project prioritization with multiple stakeholders, managing and executing competing priorities from end to end within defined timelines
Drive best practices on the team; mentor and guide junior members to achieve their career growth potential.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 7+ years industry experience
5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
Experience leading and influencing the data strategy of your team or organization
Manage Redshift/Spectrum/EMR infrastructure, and drive architectural plans and implementation for future data storage, tool, reporting, analytic and modeling solutions
Proven track record of sharing outcomes through written communication, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Familiar with AWS data ecosystem
Experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing datasets from multiple sources
Experience and working with global teams and diverse partners, especially experiences with Science team is a big plus
