Position Overview

The primary objective of this position is to lead the sales forecast analytical process for the legacy AbbVie US Oncology business, which currently includes the on-market product Venclexta, a brand responsible for sales of ~$1Bn and part of a collaboration with Genentech. The Associate Director, Oncology Forecasting will also lead the transition of pipeline asset forecasting from GCD, which currently includes Navitoclax. Specifically, this position is responsible for developing accurate/timely projections of Commercial product volumes for Plan, Update, LBE, LRP, Portfolio and Actual submission as well as providing decision-making support and recommendation to Senior Management. The Associate Director, Oncology Forecasting must build and maintain knowledge of the business through communication with a variety of cross-functional partners including the VP, Marketing & Sales Management, Marketing Analytics and Business Insights, and Commercial Finance.

Core Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting and Internal Control:
* Lead month-end actual close process including the preparation of Price, Pipeline and Demand variance and Close commentary; communicate key drivers of performance
* Preparation, creation, and review of sales reporting/key metric Forecasting Packages
* Presentation of monthly actual sales results/future period volume forecasts to Commercial VP's and Marketing Directors
2. Financial Planning and Analysis:
* Lead the development of accurate product sales projections to be utilized in Plan, Update, LBE, LRP and Portfolio submissions - using sound analytical assumptions and effective communication of rationale/methodology
* Provide ad-hoc analytical support on various business needs including audit, product launch scenarios, channel/product mix impacts and other key business drivers
* Leverage working knowledge of technical areas, including forecast modeling approaches (regression, patient flow, etc), financial modeling, market dynamics, primary market research, competitive intelligence and syndicated data sources
3. Strategic Business Partnership:
* Collaboration with Commercial, Pricing, Finance and Marketing Analytics & Business Insight teams to address business issues and provide solutions through problem solving, include defining risks and opportunities associated with the forecast
* Lead cross functional team (MABI, Market Access, Marketing) in developing an aligned perspective / cadence of interactions.
4. People Leadership and Development:
* Effectively lead and develop team of 2 professionals.

Qualifications
Required:

* 8 to 10 years of combined experience in analytics, forecasting, and/or financial planning and analysis
* Bachelor's Degree in Analytics, Mathematics/Statistics, Business, Economics, Accounting or Finance
* Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically, identify key issues, opportunities, and value drivers, and effectively translate strategic insights into appropriate forecasts to drive business decisions
* Ability to understand market research is critical to discovering and quantifying financial impacts of marketing initiatives and competitive events
* Ability to triangulate a wide variety of data sets and analytics to inform forecasting in a clear and concise way
* Ability to solve business problems through the proactive identification of issues and subsequent collection, analysis, and interpretation of related data
* Experience in leading and motivating a team in a dynamic business environment to successfully achieve results / deliverables
* Experience supporting senior operating management
* Strong Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills
* Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred:

* MBA/Master's in Accounting or Finance and / or CPA
* Biopharma industry and/or supporting a commercial/marketing organization experience
* US Commercial experience and knowledge of the financial planning process
