The Agile Hardware Solutions (AHS) Department, in the Cross Products Center (CPC) / Mechanical Product Team (MPT), is seeking a Mechanical Design Integrity Checker to perform the design and documentation verification and validation of engineering Technical Data Packages (TDPs). The Cross Product Centers (CPC) charter is to provide superior Analysis and Test, Materials Engineering support, and Agile & Rapid Hardware Solutions through innovation, collaboration, accountability, and flawless execution throughout the product life cycle. The Agile Hardware Solutions (AHS) Department strives to develop, mature and deploy advanced product development capabilities across the Mechanical Products Team, enabling the business to deliver high quality work products at competitive discriminating velocity & cost. AHS also partners heavily with the configuration and data management functional disciplines in order to ensure the highest levels of velocity and efficiency through the product release life cycle, but also ensuring the highest level of quality and rigor of the design to exceed customer requirements and satisfaction.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The ideal candidate will have a multi-disciplined background with experience in both mechanical and electrical design and drafting specialties, including comprehension of potential manufacturing and producibility impact.

The selected candidate will be primarily responsible for performing design verification and validation of traditional Mechanical 2D Drawings as well as Model-Based Design TDPs. Mechanical design documentation and models consist of both complex and simple machined parts, castings and other fabricated items. Mechanical design drawings, documentation, and associated electronic data output files used for production and / or procurement will undergo a comprehensive verification and validation review for design producibility and data integrity, quality, and consistency. Mechanical traditional and Model Based Designs are checked for form, fit, and function to program unique requirements while conforming to specific Company and Industry Specifications & Standards.

The selected candidate may (with training) also be responsible for providing a formal, systematic, design verification and validation of traditional Electrical 2D TDPs, and also be subjected to Electrical Model Based Design TDPs. Overall, design verification and validation is in compliance with ASME Y14.41 and MIL-STD-31000 standards. Electrical TDPs will encompass the circuit card assembly (or flexible circuit assembly), printed wiring board, and schematic design representation (drawings); including electronic Bills of Material (eBOMs), and design models developed using computer aided design tools. Job responsibility includes confirming that the synchronization of design representation (drawings) with the design database models from which they were derived, is authenticated. Electrical traditional and Model Based Designs are checked for form, fit and function to Program Unique Requirements while conforming to specific Company and Industry Standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

The candidate must be able to develop technical solutions to problems through use of ingenuity and creativity with minimal supervision. Candidate must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work autonomously while establishing and supporting program schedule and priority needs. Candidate must have a working knowledge of military and commercial design, producibility fundamentals, and documentation and drawing standards related to the electronic Technical Data Packaging of mechanical (and possibly electrical) designs (traditional 2D well as a Model-Based Design Environment). The ideal candidate will work under general direction, and provide technical solutions to a wide range of problems that may be encountered with technical documentation and modeling supporting the engineering design intent. The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with colleagues and customers in a team environment. The candidate must also be able to obtain a security clearance.

* Minimum of 4 years of directly related experience designing, drafting, and verifying / validating detailed TDPs.
* Mechanical Computer Aided Design (CAD) design / drafting experience; PTC Creo Suite, ProE, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Raster, Myriad.
* Industry Model-Based Engineering (MBE) comprehension / experience (3D PDF design representation).
* Configuration & Date Management (CM / DM) comprehension and aptitude to develop advanced TDP record set management techniques in PDM.
* Working knowledge of ASME Industry Standards and Practices.
* Proven capability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally, with the objective of teaching and mentoring others.

DESIRED SKILLS:

* Ability to coordinate with various engineering disciplines and leadership levels.
* Ability to negotiate difficult and critical discussions for a consolidated solution that meets program needs yet aligns with acceptable design / drafting rigor requirements.
* Self-starter, process oriented, quick learner.
* Experience in problem solving and process development.
* (Multi-disciplined support potential) Electrical Computer Aided Design (CAD) design / drafting experience; MentorGraphics design applications (DxDesigner, Valor), DownStream Technologies (BluePrint-PCB), and other electrical change comparison software.
* (Multi-disciplined support potential) Electrical Model-Based Engineering (MBE) concepts and electronic Bills of Material (eBOMs) experience.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

ASEET or a technical school degree; related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Two years of equivalent professional experience in place for one year of education. A total of 8 years of directly related experience in order to conduct a degree equivalency.

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.177331
