As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk or Independent Risk Management provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.

As the Operational Risk Group continues to build out a world-class independent risk management capability, were seeking superior talent to help transform our operational risk issue management oversight and aggregation function. The Issues Management Oversight team, within the independent risk management (IRM) Strategy, Planning and Governance organization, owns and executes the issue management oversight program for in scope risk programs in alignment with the enterprise Issue Management Policy.

A successful candidate for this role will have the ability to comprehend complex issues, determine/challenge root cause and impacts, understand proposed remediation plans, effectively articulate complex concepts, influence change and have the ability to work in a fast paced deadline driven environment with excellent communication skills.
This role will have the accountability and responsibility for managing resources and processes to provide independent oversight and challenge of the front line risk-taking and risk management plans and decisions. Specifically, this individual will be responsible for:
1. Providing oversight of the front line issue management program and fulfilling IRM responsibilities outlined in the enterprise Issue Management Policy including:
* Providing guidance and best practices for identifying and documenting control gap issues and creation of remediation plans that include clear risk reduction
* Managing reporting processes for comprehensive, timely and accurate reporting to key stakeholders including senior management and/or risk and management committees
* Monitoring issue management performance metrics to understand risk implications, providing challenge, as needed
* Evaluating appropriateness, completeness, effectiveness and sustainability of corrective actions taken to address situations defined as issues
* Designing and developing testing strategies, methodologies and analyses; evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls
* Ensuring front line business quality assurance processes around issues management are effective and working appropriately
* Collaborating with other independent risk management teams, for example, Enterprise Information Security, Compliance, Legal and other key risk partners as needed
1. Maturing team functions:
* Actively participate in and drive the oversight of front line and IRM teams implementation plans for aligning to the Issue Management Policy as well as ongoing adherence
* Capture and escalate challenges related to oversight of front line issue management activities
* Develop and execute IRM processes to review and challenge front line requests for issue risk acceptances or due date extensions
* Develop/deliver appropriate education to enhance issues management practices in the front line and/or IRM
* Create/maintain appropriate process documentation
* Provide standard reporting at the business, function, and risk type levels
* Identify themes and trends for reporting and discussion with independent risk management teams
* Facilitate monthly updates for operational risk issues at the issues, corrective action, and milestone levels
* Facilitate issue tollgate SLA notifications

Required Qualifications
* 7+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management
* 2+ years of leadership experience

The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.
