This role is based at our High Point, NC site.

What will you do?

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Maintenance and calibration of category B instruments which includes, but is not limited to, balances, pH meters, titrators, centrifuges, portable column heaters, air samplers, alignment kits, dew point monitors, stopwatches, thermometers, constant temperature baths, calipers, gage blocks, weight sets, color meters, conductivity meters, flow meters, chart recorders, single or multi channel pipettes.
* Perform instrument maintenance and calibration of category A instruments which include, but are not limited to HPLC's, GC's, FTIR spectrometers, and UV/Vis spectrophotometers.
* Assist in the validation of all critical laboratory instruments.
* Assist with coordinating day-to-day metrology events and aid in the repair, building, and troubleshooting of all QC instrumentation.
* Oversee all work of independent contractors and maintain the calibration database.
* Generate requisitions for materials, instruments, spare parts, and tools required to maintain QC instrumentation, and assist the Laboratory Managers and Supervisors in assessing new instrumentation needs or modifications to existing systems.

General Requirements:

Compliance: Actively contribute to the overall goals of the company. Follow all company policies, SOPs, cGMPs, work instructions (WI), methods and guidelines.

Productivity: Multi tasks and schedules time to meet required workload. Actively seek additional assignments when primary responsibilities are completed. As required by the groups workload, is available for off-shift or weekend assignments, or for emergency/problem situations. Perform root cause analysis to lead permanent solution of day to day situations.

Written Communication: Record and/or review all data and documents all activities in accordance with applicable guidelines, SOPs, and company policies. Document all aspects of assignments in the laboratory notebook. Write SOPs and WIs, summaries, and reports. Use the electronic data systems to analyze and generate reports.

Verbal Communication: Maintain continuous communication with all employees to facilitate their work. Notify the supervisor to delegate immediately of any possible situation about productivity or activities that require decision making beyond his/her scope. Maintain and support a positive workplace attitude towards individuals and company. Communicate with personnel from other departments during meeting and specific tasks assigned by management. Represent the supervisor in delegated meetings.

Initiative and leadership: Train peers to perform specific functions. Initiate and investigate opportunities for minimizing or avoiding costs. Assure that equipment is maintained, and supplies are not wasted. Independently pursue training and/or learning opportunities to enhance personal skills and share skills with other team members. Assist in the training and coaching, leading other employees into excellent compliance status.

Safety & security: Maintain an organized workplace and complete housekeeping assignments. Demonstrate a positive attitude towards safety and housekeeping audits. Use proper personal protective equipment when required. No lost time work accidents caused by negligence or unsafe acts. Identify and resolve unsafe situations. Immediately report and accident or near miss to Supervisor or delegate. Protect confidential and restricted information.

How will you get here?

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry/Engineering or related field, minimum of 5 years experience as a Metrologist, Service Engineer, or related discipline, or an Associate Degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 10 years as a Metrology, Service Engineer or a related discipline and it is preferred to have experience in a cGMP laboratory/environment.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel and talk/hear/listen. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally be required to push/pull/lift up to 25 pounds. Close and color visions are required. It is also required that the incumbent receive a periodic eye examination which documents the level of visual acuity and color discrimination needed.

Special Requirements:

* Must meet applicable DEA security clearance requirements.

Work Environment:

The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level is moderate.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Ear plugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, and lab coat are required.
