Role Purpose

Supervises and coordinates production activities in support of the Production Planners and Schedulers in regard to the Ohio facilities to ensure on-time completion and delivery to the customer. Communicates real-time production order status to internal APS customers, as needed, and maintains accurate production schedule dates. Participates in the Ohio PC back-up plan, performs tactical tasks and provides strategic support to the PC Manager as required.

Responsibilities

* Supervises and, when necessary, covers tactical Ohio PC duties including backfilling planned/unplanned absences.
* Leads daily/weekly/monthly meetings to keep open communication between internal customers as needed.
* Creates, analyzes, and publishes daily/weekly/monthly reports.
* Manages departmental standard work and amends as the business climate evolves.
* Manages escalated expedites.
* Supports and directly participates strategic organizational initiatives as needed
* Plans and establishes Extrusion, Press and Converting production schedules, monitors materials inventories, tracks progress of production, and reviews factors which affect production schedules for all departments. Effectively manages production schedules to meet 100% on-time delivery of product to internal and external customers requirements. Utilizes production capacity and identifies constraints. This includes level loading the schedule as needed, reviewing, printing and maintaining shop orders, and coordinating the movement of film.
* Analyzes current production schedule as well as upcoming demand in order to determine if an expedite requested can be accommodated. Processes requests and adjusts schedule for re-issue orders, expedites, change shipment notices, press approvals, samples and rush air shipments. Proposes when to schedule down-time and the effects of unplanned downtime.
* Works closely with other Planners for all production lines in order to meet due dates and minimize scrap and change-overs. Identifies material needed from extrusion and keeps converting informed of potential shortages.
* Helps coordinate film shipments between plants in conjunction with shuttle, shipping and receiving.
* Updates and maintains the plant scheduling boards.
* Works with plant employees on the shop floor to verify inventory as well as production status of art files, plate making, press, converting and extrusion.
* Works with Plastics Operations to drive positive change and innovative practices to increase the efficiency and accuracy of all planning and scheduling.
* Helps support short term staffing needs within the department as back-up to other Production Control positions as needed.

Qualifications

* Must be skilled in MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, MS Excel, etc. Mide Level Excel skills are a minimum requirement.
* Must be skilled in using a computerized ERP/MRP system including all master data, and item specific planning data
* Must have experience setting up a schedule in a system plus have an understanding of how the schedule works within the entire ERP system.
* Must understand system shortage reports and accurately ascertain critical path issues preventing production from being started.
* Must demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
* Must be able to demonstrate strong numerical analysis and data management skills.
* 3 5 years' related experience in production scheduling and planning and control processes in a manufacturing environment.
* Knowledge of Printing Press capabilities a plus.
* Knowledge of manufacturing, production, and inventory control functions.
* Experience in the application of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies, including root cause corrective action.
