ROLE SUMMARY
The Global Operations & Vendor Management Lead manages a unique pan-Biopharma Ops department that oversees both insourced and outsourced global operations functions, leads contractor strategy, leads Biopharma Ops vendor management program office, and in partnership with other Biopharma Ops departments or functions (i.e., Planning & Performance & Marketing & Customer Facing Enablement Leads) leads the overall strategy to help define and implement a global tops down rightsourcing of current and future Biopharma Ops work in a manner that consistently facilitates delivery of flexible, near, and offshore services from Biopharma Ops to PBG and Customers and supports near and long-term cost savings objectives.
The Global Operations & Vendor Management Lead role is accountable to lead a team across Biopharma Ops to develop and evolve existing service delivery for in scope operational areas and also to ideate and create new service models that consolidate contractor roles, promote and influence business appropriate Biopharma Ops use of offshore, lower cost, more efficient, flexible resources to do Biopharma Ops work.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Biopharma Ops, Global Operations & Vendor Management Lead directly heads a cross-geography internal and external team. The Global Operations & Vendor Management Lead plans, directs, and controls all aspects of the fully global operation. The role has significant influence with and without formal authority requirements internally and externally and is highly matrixed. The Global Operations & Vendor Management Lead actively enables Biopharma Ops and PBG by identifying and providing flexible business services across geographies while accounting for local market and compliance environments. The Global Operations & Vendor Management Lead manages select Biopharma Ops operations, is fully accountable for developing and implementing a right sourcing program and strategy including associated, programs, processes, strategy, internal stakeholder engagement vendor contracts.
The Global Operations & Vendor Management Lead is accountable for ensuring on-time, on-budget cost effective service delivery, via efficient and effective compliant operations, as well as development and implementation of novel service delivery and rightsourcing and strategies for Biopharma Operations across the globe.
The Global Operations & Vendor Management Lead ideates, develops, plans for, integrates, manages, and translates the demand for services from BU account management and service delivery teams into executable rightsourced strategies. This leader also plays a significant role in ideating and influencing senior members of Biopharma Ops Enablement and Biopharma Ops on creating more flexible, cost effective, internal, and external and commercial operations, and ensures services and outputs are compliant with local country regulations and requirements. The Global Operations & Vendor Management Lead also performs critical general management and leadership responsibilities across a complex operation and team.
Responsibilities:
* Leads and/or co-leads a team of approximately 100 Pfizer & vendor colleagues and subordinate supervisors; plus indirect responsibility for vendor management across all of Biopharma Ops
* Manages senior internal Pfizer BU client engagement and communication at all levels of the business
* Oversees internal and supplier operations, quality, and contract management often with offshore considerations of unusual complexity
* Accountable for significant SOPs, contracts, SOWs, SEAs , and financial controls
* Senior compliance owner for service delivery operations globally
* Collaborates and aligns heavily within PBG Enablement functions, PBG Operations broadly, & PBG leadership and colleagues
* Collaborates with other functional senior leaders and divisions including but not limited to HR, IT, Finance, Procurement, and Audit
* Designs, develops and implements advanced strategy to ensure successful offerings, client experience, value delivery, and new operational/service development, and deployment.
* Creatively innovates and resourcefully manages global service delivery model, including a tops down global consolidation/right sourcing strategy for existing and future Biopharma Operations contractor support
* Applies ingenuity, business insights, and strategy to develop new, relevant & rightsourced delivery models and support offerings, and discontinue others
* Leads and stewards the on-boarding and launch of new or unique support models and ventures
* Leads continuous improvement across the team
* Conceives and leads review and improvement of existing systems and implementation of new systems to deliver greater Biopharma Operations cost efficiency
* Key lead/contact to new and existing senior contacts at key operations/center based suppliers
* Ideates creative solutions to manage high volumes and increasing demand generated by changes in Pfizers operating model & PBG commercial model
* Identifies, designs, and implements transformational service delivery approaches requiring senior leadership, organizational, and operational alignment and influence
* Connects Global Service Delivery to peer Biopharma Ops enablement teams, Biopharma Ops Quality, and Account Management.
Performance Measures:
Select KPIs include: Management of pan-Biopharma Ops vendor management program office (quantity and quality of vendor service excellence agreements), direct team management of select vendor contracts (IBM, and others), management and KPIs generated through insourced (i.e., Turkey, etc.) center(s). Development of strategies to ensure right sourcing of current and future work.
QUALIFICATIONS
* BA Required; MBA or equivalent Masters-level education preferred
* 15+ years of commercial experience, preferably in Technology, Consulting, BPO, Operations or Analytics
* People management and leadership experience including collaboration with senior level management
* Extensive experience leading through matrix teams
* Cross BU and/or diversity of job experiences
* Global experience in working with different markets that span various cultures, languages, and time zones
* Proven track record of delivering business performance
* Demonstrated history of leading innovation/transformation
