Job Overview
You will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic, experienced, and global team of legal, compliance, and privacy professionals. You will be responsible for providing support and advice to Booking Holdings global brands and internal business teams. You must have excellent judgment in balancing legal risks with business strategy, and a proven ability to learn new areas of law and function independently in a demanding fast-paced environment. Responsibilities and Duties
* Implementation. Provide focused and pragmatic advice on the implementation and impact of global privacy laws and issues to brand privacy leaders, procurement, brand, marketing, and business teams
* Assessments. Coordinate with regional counsel to perform multi-jurisdictional assessments to assist with global regulatory change management
* Privacy-by-design. Provide SME support on privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default reviews, privacy impact assessments, and data protection impact assessments
* Incident response. Support security incident response team in the evaluation of, and response to data incidents
* Compliance counseling. Assist in leading and driving privacy and data protection compliance for the appropriate business and functional leaders and their teams
* Policy management. Update and maintain user friendly external privacy notices, internal privacy and data handling policies, playbooks, and other materials supporting Booking Holdings privacy program
* Strategy. Support compliance strategies for U.S. and international data privacy and personal information collection rules, regulations and standards
* Contract support. Assist in driving data protection contract terms to achieve business objectives
Qualifications
* JD and a minimum of five years of relevant experience in law firms, governmental agencies, and/or in-house legal departments. In-house experience at a multinational, consumer-facing technology company is strongly preferred
* 5 years of relevant job experience
* Strong experience with global privacy laws relevant to consumer facing technology companies
* Strong experience negotiating broad range of commercial contracts
* CIPP/US or CIPP/E, or ability and willingness to achieve one or both within one year
* Demonstrated ability to independently manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues
* Consistent good judgment and ability to apply legal knowledge to help create practical business solutions
* Flexibility, a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and the ability to constructively balance change in alignment with business needs
* Strong execution and project management skills, and ability to corral stakeholders from across the organization on cross-functional projects
* Excellent analytical, written and verbal skills with the ability to present information/complex legal matters clearly and concisely
* Juris Doctor and membership in good standing in at least one US state bar is required
* Self-starting, proactive, driven, adaptable person who can, with poise and patience, prioritize and manage multiple projects and recalibrate advice in view of shifting priorities, legal developments and risk tolerance
* Experience working with international teams (US, EMEA, LATAM and APAC).
* High level of integrity, professionalism, intellectual curiosity, sense of humor, and willingness to grow
* Experience distilling highly technical rules and legal jargon into understandable terms using plain English for internal clients and external-facing documentation
