We are seeking a Mid-Level Structural Engineer / Facilities to join our Facilities and Asset Management (F&AM) organization. This position is located in Saint Louis, Missouri.

In this role, you will apply your structural engineering and analysis experience to our maintenance operations within a manufacturing environment. We are seeking valuable technical input to strategic, short-term, and long-term infrastructure planning to include analyzing current conditions and future requirements, and deliver recommendations on capital improvements. The role will focus on maintenance support related to the structural phases of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and grounds.

Position Responsibilities:

* Develops moderately complex conceptual designs, final designs, cost estimates and provides maintenance support for the structural phases of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and grounds. Reviews in house designs and designs of outside consultants to assess compliance with customer requirements, building codes and applicable regulations by applying knowledge of construction principles, practices, and materials.

* Performs analysis to determine the cause of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.). Facilitates the implementation of improvements in asset effectiveness, availability, and maintainability; to specify configuration of new assets in order to support reliability programs.

* Manages and supports construction projects by providing supervision of construction related activities, input on vendor selection; reviews contractor proposals; interfaces with government/regulatory agencies; monitors project progress and vendor/consultant performance.

* Prepares and presents project information to ensure compliance with applicable construction documents and jurisdictional requirements to meet project objectives. Uses appropriate resources to produce project drawings, specifications, and permit application packages in accordance with project parameters.

* Translates customer requirements into design options with documents and estimates. Identifies appropriate materials, equipment, and services by applying engineering principles and methodology. With limited supervision, develops and updates design standards and site-specific operating procedures in order to establish common practices.

* Provides input to strategic, short-term, and long-term infrastructure planning; completes studies; analyzes current conditions and future requirements; recommends capital improvements; Analyzing intended use/occupancy and desired aesthetics, conducting code research, developing preliminary design elements, determining interdisciplinary engineering support requirements, estimating resource costs/requirements, identifying materials, equipment, and services, and developing initial project schedule in order to establish project scope in response to customer requirements.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

* Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

* Experience with structural design and/or analysis in relation to building structures/facilities

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working with building codes and commercial construction, interpreting highly complex drawings, schematics and equipment manuals

* Experience estimating costs for major building projects, from construction documents, engineering technical specifications, and drawings

* More than 5 years of purchasing experience (e.g. issuing Requests for Proposal, evaluating bids, placing purchase orders, paying invoices)

* More than 5 years of experience dealing with regulatory agencies or federal regulations Experience with Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Structural engineering systems

* Experience with structural design principles for repair and maintenance (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, repair techniques

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master + 3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
