Job Description
FPGA Software Engineers research, design, develop, and optimize software tools that enable the use of Field Programmable Gate Arrays. Our engineers develop and optimize compilers, flows, assemblers, models, tools and runtimes that are closely coupled to FPGA silicon, IP and boards, while leveraging strong knowledge of FPGA hardware, logic design, board design, semiconductor devices and chip layout. We get to design, develop and optimize software abstractions and frameworks for acceleration with the FPGA and have many opportunities to respond to customer/client requests or events as they occur. We also develop solutions to problems utilizing formal education, judgement and formal software process.
In this role, you will be developing the software for Quartus tool that programs the current/next generation of FPGA devices. Your scope of responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Developing software support for high-speed transceivers and other peripheral components
* Owning and enhancing tools that automate the Device Modeling process
* Owning various analytical/logical tasks involved in Transceiver/Tile Power Modeling such as understanding the design/power collateral, running home-grown tools to check the consistency of collateral and generating the required data-structure for the cross-functional team
* Implementing new features in addition to root-causing and fixing the existing ones, while maneuvering your way through a big code base
Qualifications
You must possess minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.
* 5+ plus years of software development experience (hardware/silicon environment) in one or more software programming/scripting languages (C/C++, Java, Python/Perl/Tcl) (MSCE/MSEE with 3+ years of experience will also be considered)
* Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
Preferred Qualifications
* Masters Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
* Experience with Power concepts
* Experience with data-structures/algorithms
* Experience with the build process/makefiles
* Experience with RTL using (Verilog/VHDL/System Verilog)
* Experience with FPGA architecture and tools
* Electronic Design Automation (EDA) experience
* Experience with version control systems like Perforce, CVS, or Git in Unix/Linux environment
