Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a Sr. Principal Material Process Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

Essential Functions:

Multi-task and have a high degree of understanding of materials and processes (M amp;P), electronics manufacturing, subcontractor oversight, materials selection, assembly drawings, test procedures and qualification of new M amp;P for space applications. Develop and implement PM amp;P processes and have a good understanding of prohibited materials, Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs) and IPC/NASA/Military workmanship requirements for space hardware. Take ownership of tasks, oversee delegated tasks, check results for accuracy and document the results. Participate in design reviews, program reviews, failure analysis, trade studies and qualification review boards in support of PM amp;P issues across the entire Spacecraft Design (subsystems, units, slices, CCAs). Formulate detailed instructions/test plans and be the lead in their execution with a proven understanding of data analysis methodologies and knowledge of design and manufacturing processes. Lead and coordinate internal and external Materials amp; Processes efforts. Collaborate closely with design, analysis, manufacturing, quality and integration engineers, as well as functional management, to develop and implement requirements.

Qualification

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor 39;s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline plus 9 years of experience in a technical role OR Master 39;s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline plus 7 years of experience in a technical role.
* Experience with qualification of parts, materials or processes for air/space applications.
* Knowledge of Electrical/Electronic/Electro-mechanical parts or technologies.
* Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances: Dept of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years OR SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years OR Dept of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience formulating technical solutions to electronic components, subsystems and associated manufacturing process
* Familiarity with NASA/IPC/Military and other industry specifications
* Extensive knowledge of electronics design, manufacturing and subcontractor oversight
