As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), you will be responsible for performing moderate and high complexity testing for use in patient diagnosis and treatment of disease. You will analyze, review, and report test results and quality control results, and take remedial action when indicated, and ensure specimen integrity through proper handling and processing.

* You will handle and transport specimens as appropriate to the ordered tests
* You will ensure positive identification of each patient and respective samples
* You will correctly receive specimens and print specimen labels
* You will troubleshoot test systems and take appropriate actions
* You will communicate the need for supplies, receive all supplies, and rotate supplies appropriately
* You will perform and document scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
* You will identify problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results

Qualifications

Experience

* 2 years of experience as a Generalist, including Blood Bank, in an acute care hospital setting preferred

Education

* Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
* Graduation from a clinical rotation or internship in an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program, OR a 50-week military training course or an acceptable equivalent which results in eligibility to take the registry exam in Medical Laboratory Technology

Licenses and Certifications

* Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or equivalent within 1 year of hire
