Working as a Principal Member of Technical Staff, you will be required to demonstrate your highly technical skills within a specific technology discipline. To attain this technical level, you will be required to have or be capable of exhibiting significant contributions in specific complex technical areas. Your contribution can be external to the company, but shall be primarily internal. As the Principal Member of Technical Staff, you will be recognized in the company as a technical leader within a specific area and may lead projects of small to medium size and technical breath. In addition, you should have worked or be capable of working on projects of high complexity, where analysis of data requires in-depth evaluation of various factors, using knowledge and expertise derived from strong educational background and progressive experience.

Overall Purpose:

Network architect with expertise in cellular networks spanning 3G, LTE and 5G. Requires strong technical expertise in routing technologies, connectivity solutions, protocols, and various standards such as 3GPP, ETSI and GSMA. The architect will be expected to work on end to end solutions across multiple verticals and customer types.

Responsibilities including, but not limited to:

* Be primary SME for IOT platforms related to connectivity and routing

* Drive the Connected Car, Asset and Connectivity platform development solutions

* Responsible for developing architecture documents and designs to meet product and platform requirements

* Reviews and approves AT&T network and IT and vendor-provided solution definitions, designs, test plans and operations / support documentation

* Leverages cross-project visibility to define strategy and identify required enablers

* Supports Solution Engineers and Business Development team in customer engagements

* Maintains as-built documentation

* Identifies technical requirements from business requirements.

* Defines options to realize the technical requirements across OEMs systems, 3rd party systems and AT&Ts Network and IT.

* Creates overall architecture capturing impacts across AT&T and interfacing systems.

* Identifies specific solutions and solutions suppliers.

* Serves as subject matter expert in the design and implementation of the project.

* Work with key partners in Business Development, Strategy and Pricing, CTO, Consumer Marketing, ABS and other Product Development teams to build appropriate policy and charging enablement strategies in support of vendor RFP responses, new partner product strategies, industry trends and AT&T Consumer Product strategies.

* Work directly with peers from OEM and MNO partners to define and implement end-to-end technical solutions to support Most of World deployments, while advocating for AT&T strategic interests.

* Facilitate strategic discussion with appropriate Network and IT partners to understand future platform strategies and brainstorming on potential solutions in support of wholesale and customer experiences to secure AT&Ts data products for their connected device.

* Drives end-to-end technical solution across device, network, policy, real-time charging, and IT.

* Researches and recommends technology to improve the current systems.

* Applies thought leadership, provides advice on multiple technologies and shapes the long-term direction of AT&T's products / services.

* Seeks new knowledge and innovative methods across disciplines

* Leverages subject matter/ industry expertise, and applies in-depth knowledge of company goals to contribute to business opportunities

* Uses sophisticated analytical thought and judgment to solve loosely defined, complex and unique problems

* Guided by organization strategy and objectives

* Key contributor on products, services and/or infrastructure strategies that require complex or advanced conceptualization.

* Ensures products and services are aligned with customers current and future needs and expectations.

* Directs projects of critical importance and works on next generation technologies and platforms.

* Engages others to adopt a sense of urgency and problem resolution

* Implements re-useable platforms, including initial architecture and detailed technical design, working closely with development teams during development cycle, integration across systems, creation of end-to-end test cases and production deployment support

* Designs and implements network connectivity between AT&T IoT platforms and those of OEM partners and vendors. Manages the validation this connectivity in AT&T lab and production environments.

Education: Preferred Masters of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, or Math; Developer nanodegree; or equivalent experience.

Experience: Typically requires 5-10 years experience.

* Candidate must have 5+ years wireless experience

* Candidate must have experience working with teams of technical architects to drive end-to-end solutions

* Candidate must have experience with AT&T Network and IT development processes

* Candidate must have experience with mobility and IMS network platforms for voice, messaging and data.

* Candidate must have practical experience with network administration

* Candidate must be experienced with and understand accessibility and security compliance, including security standards

* Candidate must demonstrate experience and understanding of session management in a distributed environment

* Experience implementing global solutions, including appreciation for legal, regulatory and commercial challenges that create challenges and opportunities for AT&T

* Experience with Internet protocols, routing technologies, firewalls, DNS and applications

* Cloud technologies and X as a Service

Environmental Requirements: This position may be responsible for contributing to ATTs compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.

Required Qualifications -

* Entry into this title will require Technical Title Plan (TTP) Board Approval.
* Candidate shall have a PhD in an approved field from an accredited university and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in an approved field from an accredited university and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in an approved field from an accredited university and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
* Five or more years experience with networks, network protocols, and IP networks and at least seven years of experience with web development using PHP, Perl, Action script and Java programming through all phases of the software development lifecycle
* A strong understanding of security technology in the areas of VPN, firewalls, proxy, and IDS/IPS as well as experience in Linux, Solaris and Windows
* Candidate must have a strong communication skills both verbally and written as well as strong problem solving skills
* Ability to balance and prioritize work and work independently and as part of a team
* Previous experience as a system tester and experience in a lab test environment

Desired Qualifications -

* CISSP, CCNA certification, or GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA)
* Experience with any/all of following software tools: PHP, Perl, Action Script, Java, JavaScript, Linux, XML, CVS/SVN, Linux Shell Scripts, and Oracle
* Check Point VSX experience
* Crossbeam, Fortinet and Cisco configuration experience
* TS/SCI Government Clearance
* Network and Hardware support experience as well as database design
* ISP Services Planning and Architecture
* ICDS Service Planning and Architecture
* ISP level data networks experience
* Hands-on experience with performance and security test gear
* Understanding of Internet security threats and mitigation techniques
