Performs the essential duties associated with planning/cooking/preparing foods for service to all customers, inclusive, but not limited to, all patient meals, cafeteria service, and special catering functions for the facility and cafeteria. Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.

The Cook reviews the production sheet and daily menus to determine type and quantities of meats, vegetables, soups, sauces and breads to be prepared. Plans cooking schedule to ensure that food will be ready at specified times. Prepares seasonings, measures and mixes, bakes, test food and adjusts heat on food being cooked. Assists in patient cart and tray delivery.

Qualifications

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Licenses

Texas Food Handlers Certificate within 6 months of hire.

Experience

Minimum of two years experience in healthcare or retail food service in cook and/or supervisory position
